You don't come accross many grannies with tattoos. I think I'm going to tattoo an anchor on my granny's forearm, like Popeye.
I won't live to see it but you can imagine what it could be like in 40 years time, all the "grannies" lining up for there pension on a nice summers day. :D
I'm not being sexist by the way, just looking at the wife sitting here and trying to imagine her with tatoo's on her arms.Iv'e also read somewhere that it not "cool" any more and there are a lot more people trying to get them removed, which apparently is far more expensive than getting them put on.
Nearly cracked once and got one whilst in training and was going to use the usual excuse [P...ed], but I'm glad I never after seeing what happened to them that did. The p..s taking they got from the training staff
was something to see.

Got plenty, 2 Airborne 1 blood grp and a few others, never done me any harm, infact I don't even notice them anymore...It's up to the individual, if I'm totally honest I was probably a bit of a sheep when getting them done as a few mates went in first, still, it's part of my life now and no regrets 8)

Nothing wrong with women having tatoos - was seriously considering getting one myself on my lower back. The only thing that put me off was how it would look when I'm older. Guess it would make me a pretty cool granny actually! :D

Tat are hoofing. I have three, one on the base of my back, the other on my groin and the other on my foot. But all are in places that nobody can see unless i want them too. But i did see a lady of 'reasonable age' outside iceland in Taunton andher arms were capped with jailhouse tats i have to admit that it was not very nice but then again i have seen blokes of 'reasonable age' with the same set up. but surely it is up to the individual whether they take the plunge or not,
By the way our jeds got eyeballs on his ARSE.

My tats are all easily covered by a t shirt. Each to their own, but I don't much like colourful tattoos. All mine are plain black, a black dragon on each upper arm, one with 2 jap symbols underneath. The biggest dragon I had done to celebrate passing out. I wouldn't have had a regiment tattoo. (thank f**k as I'm now trying to get into a different regiment...)

Was thinking about getting a tat today, but in the end i didnt want to spoil my virgin skin. There were also many other factors they came with it though. Most importantly i was worried incase i picked a chad tat.
Listen in men give 100% or i will thrash you till your eyes bleed!

God is airborne because he failed his commando course!

Sorry this took so long.... I was in Duke of Wellington's (I actually left before end of phase 2...don't ask it's a long story..) now I'm trying to get into Artillery. You may ask why I'm always on the RM forums, it's because I want to get into 29 commando.

Bigbart,
I reckon you've probably made quite a wise decision getting out of there and trying for 29.
I'm not knocking the Duke of Boots or anything, but the way things are going, who knows how long they will be around for.

I've often thought about getting a tattoo, but havent as yet as I cant find anything I really like.

With people who get regt/ corps tats, are they generally taken the P*** out of or is it a case as out of sight out of mind?

cheers.

Lew, you don't get a Regt/Corp Tattoo until you fully qualified and serving with your respectful Bat/Cdo, or you'll get your balls ripped off :o

I can't speak for the green fraternity but with the Maroon lot, you might get a few old sweats giving you a hard time at first, about being a crow and having not been in long enough, but they soon find some other victim/crow to hassle  8)

While walking Toots throught the woods we encountered a young lad bounding along at a shambles with a patrol pack hanging off his back with all the straps loose and dangling. Instant reaction 'he ain't a Bootneck!'.
On the right arm he had a Tat, it was the tat on his left that gave him away; inverted dark triangle with red commando dagger and 29 Bty underneath, plus other blurb on top.
"You with 29 mate?"
Er Yes...........
"That'll teach you!" 8) They must have opened another new box, there's no way this lad had passed his AACC, his legs and arms were too thin, lucky legs, lucky they don't break.
You should talk to somebody who gives a f**k.

I know. I've stayed in touch with some lads from training and it's them I feel sorry for. I would have thought 29 would be a bit more secure, but you never know with the cuts they're making. They seem to have slowed down the recruitment process almost to a halt as it is.
Lew, if you want a tat, take your time thinking about what it is you want. Once it's there, it's going to be there for the rest of your natural, so don't get something you'll regret. Going over tattoos looks a mess, I've seen it done.

I remember a scottish lad in my last training platoon who had the SAS cap badge on his forearm. You can imagine how well that went with the training staff. I've seen a few people with this tat, it's really sad, isn't it?
