Jerry Springer got himself canceled two years ago.Your watching re-runs.
The murder/Invasive crime rate per capita is now higher in Great Britain than the US.
Just an aside,Murder is spelled with an"R"
It's not important whether or not the Jerry Springer show has been cancelled, what is important is that having people going on TV because they have married a horse or have been dating a transexual and haven't even noticed is a stirling example that the phrase "only in America" is not limited to xenophobes and 'yank bashers.'

Other such examples not previously mentioned, off the top of my head, include:
Abundant wacky anti-abortion far right christian groups, fanatical christian cults that handle snakes because of one passage in the bible, the extreme compensation culture ie women suing because coffee was too hot, burgular suing because he cut his leg whilst robbing someones house.

I'm rather sceptical about the fact that the murder rate per capita in Britain, as are others, but I'll give you that one anyway. All things considered can you honestly say that anyone who would use the phrase "only in America" should be subject to your bombastic comments?

P.S The pedantic nature of your retorts like "only in Falluja" and my type error murder has an R in it strikes me that you have the intellectual capacity of an infant. I shall now take heed of the words of socrates that "you cannot argue with a fool."

america doesnt have the monopoly on inbred gun toting t**ts

where i live there has been 5 murders within 300 yards of my house in recent years one of them being a copper

and the kids round here are little car thieving chavs who dress like cnuts in their hoodies and tracksuits with bad bumfluff thinking "they gangsta innit"

we have our white trash too, just not as many guns

Markthestab I know I have PM'd you with this but I'd thought I'd make it clear so I don't have to reply to this matter anymore.

It was not, nor did it intend to be an insult to America. I hold no negative opinions on America I just merely believe that it is largely different from the rest of the world and that it is so influential as a nation the phrase "only in America" has developed in Britain.

I am guilty of using this slanderous phrase innapropriately in what I can only say was a mindless act.

For this I accept that I have a narrow and feeble mind and that all thoughts that are generated from it will be kept within as they are not fit for the ears/eyes of right minded others.

Furthermore, the examples used to demonstrate this phrase in the commencing posts were only done to demonstrate the ill thought of comment and I was no way portraying that Britain was paved with gold, no one gets killed and everyone loves each other and that America was full of gun wielding inbreeding lunatics and religious fanatics. The examples used of America, although they sounded bad, and some of course were they were not necessarily bad. For one Jerry Springer has solved many a problem for the good folk of middle-America and religious cults are just a slightly extreme version of the enjoyment of freedom that the USA stands for.

I have noted your warning Wholley, it was wrong and childish of me to resort to insults, I apologise, I can only claim lack of capacity in light of my little mind, nevertheless I am thankful for a second chance.

If I could turn back the clock and re-right the post I would put as follows:
With regards to question 1. I watched the battle of Falluja recently on News Night and the Colonel involved was running around with his M16 in tow and cigar in mouth dishing out the orders. Despite the uniqueness of this act it can be no way comparable to the uniqueness of American popular culture or society in general and cannot be embodied in a short well known paraphrase. God bless America.
Sadly this cannot be done, I believe I have covered every indiscretion and I would very much like to put this all behind me and never mention it again.

Oh say can you see...

What you've written is what I had been saying for years until I got the full story. I can't remember the full details which is why I'm hoping somebody else posts but the man did need to be there. They were bogged down, no arty support and short of mortar rounds. One machine gun post was giving them a really tough time so he went down to try and get a better view of what was happening. That's as much as I can remember.
