there is no need to do the weights. Just do the pressups/situps/pulls ups instead. I think ive only done the weights once or twice and that was last year but yet I can reach all the maximums. If your 15stone then im guessing you already have a high level of strength without the weights?

Just look after your diet and keep doing your running and gym test exercises and you'll be fine.

Just a query, I have now been working quite hard on my RM pushups, previously found them impossible but I'm getting there now, slowly but surely. I just have a query as I'm focusing on these I now found my, what you may call regular push ups have been affected and my max for them is lower, will you be required to do any of these during training or is it Royal all the way?

I've found that as well.
I used to be able to do about 40 but now I'm getting lower scores.

I'm dreading doing them at PRMC...I always feel that one arm is doing more work than the other one. I put weights in my ruck sack and just do press ups like that. that helps improve quicker...

I know you have two minutes to do 60, I can do about 45 in 1 minute. After that can you get out of that postion and rest for 20 secs??? Or do you have to stay in the press up position? I've got a feeling I know the answer to this, a bit of a daft question really...

There's no such thing as a daft question - just daft people :D only kidding

No you cant rest. You can hold yourself in the pressup position for a couple of seconds to compose yourself - if you take too long though they will probably count you out.
Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, thoroughly used, totally worn out and loudly proclaiming... 'F*ck, what a trip!'

I would hazard to guess that you are losing reps on the other kind of press-ups because the RM ones work the triceps more... so they work different muscles from the others.

Just do different kinds of pressups then, wide arm, elbows out, royal, handstand, incline, weighted. Make them as hard as possible and when you go to do royal style you will rock the world :D

Also dips are a great exercise to do, I find they are the most beneficial exercise to do to get your marine style max up, but of course you cannot substitute good ol' marine style pressups :P
It's only pain.

Nobody has answered the question though, useful tips but, do you ever do any other press ups during training than the Royal style ones?

I don't know if you guys have clocked this but the press ups on the CP114 booklet the AFCO gives you are like the ones at the top and not arms in ones. And if that's the case then the punks are misleading us, and might be in for a bit of a kicking if they piss me around on PRMC. Or maybe not. I don't know what to beleave anymore it's all a hazey mess of conflicting information....
