Ahoy there!
Yes, yes, yes, thanks for the history lesson Spannerman, but I'll stick with my version.
By the way, you point out that Her Majesty (The British Queen) is the head, it was formed from the British Empire and that it's HQ is based in London. So, hardly British at all then.
THE BRITISH COMMONWEALTH was formed as a voluntary association in London, Great Britain on 31st December 1931. The British Commonwealth of Nations, became known as the Commonwealth in 1947.
The fact that a shower of up their own arse, PC, racist scum have tried (and it appears have in some cases succeeded) to rewrite history is of no consequence to the truth.
Don't be fooled by their website, that is part of the PC scam to alter the facts.
Search history books, encyclopedias and the www for references to THE BRITISH COMMONWEALTH. There are plenty.

Ahoy there Spannerman!
By the way, I wasn't having a pop at you. The fact that terrorists such as Mugabe, have a legitimate voice in world politics is a constant source of irritaion to me.
Before you know it, Gerry Adams and Martin McGuinness will be regarded as respectable statesmen.
Oh Bugger! They already are.
The Rogue Chef for Prime Minister, now there is an interesting idea!

Zimbabwe is a classic case of a future one party state.

Old Robert will stop at nothing to maintain his and his cronies lifestyle.

He has closed all newspapers that say nasty things about him and his cronies. Banned the BBC from even going near his country.

Just go over to South America and you will find the same sort of thing going on there, but no one says anything about them.

I know a few Rhodesian people. Mostly from the service and mostly white. One bloke called TUG would love to go home but as he says to me "Steve I would have the same chance of seeing out the first week upright as an icecream cone has of living on the sun"

The fact remains that the farms when run by the whites ran at a surplus and poverty was rare in the country. Food was abundant in other words.

Mugabe is just another little Hitler who would rather watch his country fall around him than give up his power and wealth. race has nothing to do with it. Give a nutter power and you have got a problem. It will never change as it seems to be part of human nature, mores the pity.

But good old Britian is still thinking about sending a cricket team there in the New Year. What does that tell the people of Zimbabwe?

Rogue Chef for PM , you appear to have the right (better be careful how I say that in fear of upsetting the left people!) credentials, we need a leader with a flag flying high, St George at that too (Bugger the Welsh, Scots and Irish they will have their own assemblies soon) and a Royal Marine.

Whilst returning to the thread I see that B Liar is thinking of stripping the title of Sir from Robert Mugabe but he (B Liar) thinks that it may achieve nothing, still it's a starter for ten.

The cricketer Henry Olanga piad a visit to our college yesturday to talk about the situation there. Basically, he opposed what Mugabe was doing and was forced to leave. It was a good talk - he was a good speaker and very inspirational. He told us about what was going on there - pregnant rape victims getting thier stomachs slit open, mass killings, toture, etc.

He opposes English cricketers playing in Zimbabwe based on moral grounds. What got me though is when he said that the world was asking the wrong questions about Mugabe. While we are asking whether we should play cricket there, or white farmers should be allowed to work there, we should be asking whether dictators like him should be allowed to murder and commit crimes by the international community. He didnt go as far by saying that we should invade or kill mugabe (he did said that ending one life was worth more than letting thouands die) but he did say that the world needs to act. Damn right.

I had relatives out there until 1987, they moved over here due to the oppressive regime... and that was in 1987, my uncle was having death threats made against him even then. Lord knows what it's like now. I remember when they first came over they thought it was marvellous how toothpaste was so freely available.

You just have to hope that South Africa doesn't follow them.
