I think my words reflected my sentiments that you guys shouldn't have been backed into a corner in the first place.
No question of the commitment and courage, but all the goodwill in the world can't make up for defunct and unstable equipment (I did my fire training at Lympstone for the last strike) and the equipment, as far as I'm aware, is still the same.
The GG's are pusser lorries with water bowser on top, not custom built wagons with baffled tanks built around. GG went on it's side on the Lympstone parade ground - not going fast either.
Sure, if you saw people trapped, you would go and help, any normal person would. Ex booties/military would probably be more spontaneous in their actions.
I shouldn't have come to this, you should have had the pay and due respent in the first place.
