To be honest I wasn't aware that there was a Wales v South Africa match, I must have been asleep or something.HCR wrote:I'm not mocking you BritAfrica mate, I know SA is now one of the Worlds most dangerous places. And its a shame its heading the same way as Zimbabwe. You only have to speak to SA living over hear to hear there fears on our the Country is heading.
But I'm sure if Football fans stay away from the rough areas then there is no reason why people cant go and have a brilliant time over there. Just recently 1000's of Welshmen and Women were over there to follow Wales at the Rugby and I don't think anyone was killed or injured. And I'm hoping to get over there next year for at least one of the Lions Test matches.
Its not just the rough area's you need to be aware of, for example:-
A cruise ship docked at Port Elizabeth not too long ago, three coaches were hired to take passengers to the ADDO elephant reserve, en route the three coaches were hi-jacked and the passengers assaulted and robbed.
A favourite tactic of robbers is to lay large rocks in the road at night, a car hits the rocks and goes off the road. Scumbags then rob and at times murder the victims. This has happens at least twice weekly on the N2 near Cape Town Airport.
I was on the road from Pietermaritzburg going toward Cape Town, as I was travelling through the Transkie at night, I saw a body laying in the road. I know this is a favourite hi-jacking ploy, I drove around him and got the hell out of dodge, a few miles down the road I saw an old beat up car on its roof, another hi-jack ploy, again I drove around the car and got away.
Recently a white guy was waiting to pull onto the N2 from a side road from Gordon's Bay near Somerset West, a black guy simply walked up to the drivers side, shot the driver dead and walked off, no robbery, just murder for the sake of murder. That particular spot is also a favourite for hi-jackings.
My son who was a paramedic attended to white missionaries who were assisting at one of the black townships near Somerset West, someone opened up on them with an AK47. My son dug a round out of the dashboard and recognised it as a 123 grain AK47 ball round. Luckily all four missionaries survived, one being grazed across the bum, but the car looked like a colander.
Numerous muggings are taking place daily on Table Mountain and the Lions head despite patrols by park rangers.
If you do decide to come to South Africa, do not use public transport, but hire a car and stay on main routes. Do NOT pick up hitch hikers and do not stop to assist someone with a broken down car. If the cops stop you at a road block demand to see their warrant card, criminals also have a habit of wearing police uniforms to hi-jack motorists.
If you do get robbed report it to the police, but don't expect much action, only 6% of crime in South Africa is solved, 70% of those solved crimes are struck off the court rolls. In effect, out of 1,000 crimes in South Africa only 18 actually get into court.
My offer still stands, if you or anyone else decides to come over here, I can advise the best places to stay in and around Cape Town, I also have contacts in Jo-burg and Durban.
