As usual a slight deviation of thread. Bootneck has chosen to go Tuareg.
There are usually a couple of nobbers a day joining the site. At present we have a character called '1 PWRR' who claims to be 17 and an ex-serviceman. I certainly don't need his type on the forums; they detract from our objectives, enjoying our renewed friendships and passing on our knowledge to those who are genuinely keen to join up.
If you doubt that then go to 'Joining the Royal Marines' to see how much the recent recruits have appreciated the forums.
The moderators try and read all the posts every day, however surprisingly we also have lives to lead. So if a dipstick turns up we may not get on his/her case immediately. So............PM us if you spot a nobber, keep the boards the way you would expect to find them.

MEMBERSHIP CAN GO DOWN AS WELL AS UP!
You should talk to somebody who gives a f**k.

why dont you boot these nobbers then. Obviously you can see 1PWRR is a T%@t so why not boot him, He's still posting b*llocks as it is now. Have a look at his new thread started called 'Apologies'. I have recently noticed that there has been a large number of new people joining the forum, some of them walters so something has to be done. Otherwise we could lose the real ex serviceman who give priceless advice.

snyder wrote:One observation about Bootneck, and it's from an Internet veteran rather than a military veteran. (An aside: I've never made any bones about my civilianhood, and if that's ever a problem I'm am willing to beat an instant retreat.) Anyway, I always think it's a bad idea to make a grand exit from a website. More times than not, it's the result of a temporary frustration, fit of pique, earache, sunspots, the heartbreak of psoriasis -- you name it.

What typically happens is that the person who made the dramatic exit, often in a manner recalling a treacly drama by Tennessee Williams, later tiptoes back like the cat coming in from the rain, or The Hot Tin Roof to extend the pun. So I say skip the grand exit and just go, because then if you change your mind you can come back and claim that your computer went on the fritz or something.

Well thank you Snyder for your deep and meaningful insight into the psyche of our FRIEND Bootneck.
This bloke is a bloke that we know and love.
The influx of knobbers and know-alls recently has more than likely been the cause of his departure.
Perhaps you'd like to look to your own advice and make a quiet exit

I never actually met Bootneck, but we had a few chats, and I'm sure I'm not the only one who hopes he DOES come back. Whether quietly or in a blaze of glory. He's worth ten of some people on this site lately, and twenty of others.

I dont post very often compared to most people on this site but even im starting to get hacked off. The amount of knobheads that seem to be coming on this site and the amount of stupid questions being asked everyday is beyond a joke.

This place is almost completely different to what it was a year ago. Well it seems that way to me.

Anyway back to the thread.

Shame your going Bootneck, I know we have never spoke but ive read plenty of your posts.

Robj, it doesn't even seem like it was when I joined 3 months ago. :(
I'm hoping it's a seasonal phenomenon, and all the nobbers will go back to school in September.

Take it easy Trev.

If someone can pm me with the details for the memorial fund and fundraising for it I'd be grateful.
