The pitch nearest me realitvely small so I will just do the excercises until 13:00 minutes then. I will post a in a month or so as to whether my time has improved or not.

What about going to this track and doing my 1.5 mile run everyday? i will get used to what pace to set and my breathing etc and do some intervel training afterwards.

Alright trev mate. My training programme consists of alot of running. It mostly consists of 3-5 mile runs 3-4 times a week. Also includes a fartlek run on a footie pitch (sprint the sides of the pitch and jog the ends) do that 10 times. It works a treat for the 1.5 mile run. Also time yourself on it and each time you do the footie pitches try and beat your previous time. Also, i know an ex marine officer and he takes me for circuit training in the park. F*cking brutal. It normally ends with me throwing up. Now i'm staying out running for 40mins minimum. I've been doing this for about 6 months.
Went to selection last week at pirbright, i got deferred for a heart murmer. Went to hospital the next day to get it checked out and there is nothing wrong with my heart. So now i'm waiting for another selection date. 14 lads got deferred for heart murmers on my selection.

We got told not too drink fizzy drinks or redbull etc before we went there. Sure you heard this from the sister and the doctor. The bubbles in your body from the drinks can be mistaken for heart murmers. Something along those lines anyway, hope all goes well mate

Ye mate. NO lucozade, red bull or any energy drinks. These will give you heart murmers. One lad was seen drinking lucozade and they deferred him straight away because they knew he would have a murmer.

Those sprints round the pitch are good mate thanks, tried it the other day..i can see why it would work good for the mile and a half, ive added it into my weeks training now so il tell you how it works for my mile and a half im quite a big lad and im running mostly about 9 minutes sometimes just under. Im mxing up my running with them football track sprints, 5-6 mile runs, 3 miles lamp post intervals , walking with weight and 2 circuit sesions in the gym if anyone wants to try any of that, seems to be working for me.

Do your circuit sessions include weights Kev? or just bodyweight mate?

both mate, i do a bodyweight excersize circuit followed by doing 3 sets of 12 on the resistance machine as fast as i can i do it to try and improve my musculer endurance. Ive trained for years and my upperbody stuff is quite good but this circuit i do on a tuesday and a friday it takes me a while to recover. I find it pretty difficult if anyone wants to give me any tips to improve it who knows what there talking about that would be awsome i just thought i would make it huge as it looks like in depot your going to do alot of everything lol...here it is as follows
Gym work
10 minutess warm up on excersize bike
joint mobility / light stretching
bodyweight excersize circuit
2 minutes best effort press ups
50 pft sit ups
50 wide arm press ups
50 leg raises
25 x-thumbs (diamond) press up's
50 half up sit ups ( sliding hands to knees)
10 clap press ups
50 crunches
25 press ups
100 toe taps
10 clap press ups
..good load of water and a few min rest
Resistance machine circuit
3 x 12 lat pull down
3 x 12 Shoulder press
3 x 12 chest press
3 x 12 back pully machine
3 x 12 tricep cable pulldown
3 x 12 bicep curl machine
3 x 12 lower back machine
can usualy get this done in about an hour if i hammer myself
hope it comes in usefull

Although it wont do you no harm, from my experience I found weight training with weights (free or machine) bit of a waste of time. I'd say that bodyweight circuit that you got looks a good one but Id repeat it 3 or 4 times and have next to no rest between exercises or maybe a max of 30 secs

Last year a research team from Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit presented a paper to the American Heart Association suggesting that energy drinks may boost heart rates and blood pressure levels.
On another note, dont over do it with your running, If you haven't done much running before or are not used to running long distances, ease into it, dont just go out and try to bang out a 10mile run in olympic times.
I hadn't done much running for a year, i went out and just picked up where i left off, even though my cardiovascular system could take it, my legs couldn't, i got shin splints a while back from over training and have had to take almost 3 weeks off just for them to heal.
It's probably worth getting some shock absorbant insoles too if you cover alot of miles a week on a hard surfaces, and/or if you cant afford new 'running trainers' and your old ones are in sh1t state.

above post is spot on. i had long long lay off from what i call being very fit then decided to carry on where i left off rather than building up to it.1 year to 1 and half year later being out injured due to over use injuries i got back on track. overuse injuries can stack up to create much bigger problems . in my case i had what is called a sports hernia and a torn hip flexor muscle. so build up to it - the forces do that anyway, with hindsight i wished id followed their mantra!!

I get really bad Tendinitus in my right foot, normally begins around the 4th mile. Is that normal? Should i continue to take the pain or just give up?
