If your going to shell out for a GPS watch have you considered shelling the extra £30 (a fair bit, but not in compared to the total cost) for the heart rate monitor version? I personally used to train with HRM, have dropped it at the moment as I'm not training hard or specifically so just want to enjoy the training; bit they are a really great tool to help you train, and to keep the training at the right intensity, sticking to a speeds all well and good, but what if the speed you stick to is only forcing you to about 70% intensity, or is pushing you too hard? I won't go into the benifit of HR training as theres many articles out there, just a personal sugestion as something you may want to look at if you're shelling out. Remember also that if you live and/or run in an area without good clear vision of the sky you may want to look at going for the 05 model instead of the 01; it still does mainly the same job, although is a different shape on the wrist, but ahs much greater reception without needing as good uninterupted vision.

I know I'm talking of adding more money onto what is already expensive here, but you're better waiting a bit and spending £130 on something that works well for your training, you get good use from and keep using for many years; than £100 on something that doesn't work, and you leave in the draw after a couple of months.

I'm happy with the 201, has everything I need plus more.
I live on the coast so the skies are pretty clear all year round.
And it's not £100 btw, £70 on ebay with 1 year warranty

Fair one, you know what you're looking for, I was just making the suggestion as personally I prefer HR training over SD (or ideally a mix); so that would be my priority but you know your own. And as long as you've thought about the visibility issue thats OK, just a lot of people don't, and then have £100 of useless shit in their drawer! Always a bonus if you can get it £30 cheaper as well!

Yeah thats another reason I purchased that specific one, its cheap compared to the others and does all the same stuff and has a bigger more cleared screen and plenty of other featuers im sure you have looked at. I especially like the Virutal Training Partner feature. :D

One thing im wondering though, does gps work accuratly on height as well as distance? So i mean, running up a high hill,is obviously a differnt length than if you were to measure from your start and finish along a hozizontal line
Just picked up on this, whilst I appreciate wanting to know how much ground you've actually covered, bear in mind that all distances in the military are measured off a map, which only measures horizontal distance; therefore you can disregard incline/decline.
