It's the point it's making.
That's quite a naive statement if you believe that the person who invented this story wasn't targeting Muslims and you say it's making the point, but what point is it making exactly?
Is it the point that you can make up any old crap and as long as people want to believe it they will?
Or is it making the point that if you want to get a point across then it's ok to falsify an example to demonstrate your opinion?
I wasn't saying that you were a racist or that you're wrong in your views that if people don't like our traditions then they should go back to where they came from, in fact I completely agree with you. However I refuse to play into the hands of the people who churn out this kinds of propaganda.
The fact that this isn't an actual event is extremely important, because if it never actually happened then no one would get wound up about it but as long as people buy into it and treat it as fact then the racists (and believe me they are racist) who started this have gotten what they want.
The idea is for them to create a situation where the reader is outraged at the behaviour of the person/s involved, they tend to use vague descriptions ie Muslim woman dressed in a Burkha, (which also cleverly brings up the the image of an extremist/alien culture as most people find face veils a strange concept) in order to focus attention on the group/community they're targeting so that in this case it's not about the behaviour of the single woman in the story but instead associates the opinions voiced with the Muslim community as a whole.
The BNP used to issue pamphlets with stories of how gangs of Asian men where going round raping white girls so that they'd have Muslim babies so that they could increase their numbers. This may be far more subtle but in essence it's the same thing and has the same purpose of dividing our communities and if they achieve that aim then none of us will have peaceful lives.
The "PC Brigade" also has a lot to answer for as they help breed the sense of discontent when you get stupid announcements/articles like, the Union Jack is a symbol of the slave trade, Christmas offends ethnic minorities etc..etc.... which increase tensions over issue that don't even exist and extremist groups like the BNP etc.. use this to their advantage.
