Commando: On The Front Line; Episode 1 (Discuss)

I watched the programme with interest and I must admit, I admired the guy who said it wasn't for him and left. He seemed honest and sincere. He also wished all the guys who wanted to be bootnecks all the very best.

And truly it isn't for everyone, but if you feel its for you, then you give it your all.

One of the instructors mentioned that the way ahead was going to be difficult, that's for sure. But he also said the life style at the end of it is great as are the second to none friends you will make on the way. All of these are very true statements.

The coming weeks will inspire some of you guys as you watch these young men undergo the rigorous physical and mental demands to become a Royal Marine Commando.

Watching these shows always takes me back to Lichfield.... military training is good/bad/horrible/inspiring but something you never forget!

I'll see if I can bang it up online mate. At work at the moment but when i'm home I'll try and get it sorted. It may already be on you tube or google vid.

I think it's being repeated on ITV4 throughout the week.

Hi Guys. The series called "Commando: On the Front Line" will be an eight part series starting on Sept 20th at 21.00. The first programme is an hour. The following seven will be half hours screened at 22.00 every thursday. In the new year ITV4 will repeat the series but all eight programmes will be re cut so all are one hour in length (ie 8 x 60 mins) On the 25th Sept there is a Special on ITV4 about the old geezer filmmaker who attempted the Commando tests (erm...that would be me)

Hope you enjoy the series (and book). I've tried to get it as realistic as possible.

I think it should be an hour long every week, half an hour (with ITV 5 mins worth of adverts aswel ) isn't long enough. Do you really think its going to do justice to the 32 weeks training?? thoughts anyone.

Thought you would all be very interested in the following hence the use of bold text

ITV have put last nights episode on their website and you can watch it there.

There is also a preview of the next episode.

Anyone can watch this no matter where in the world you are!!

All you need to do is click the date and time ("Thu 20 Sep - 9:00 pm") under the little section titled "CATCH UP VIDEO". You may need to install a few bits of software but this is all very straight forward and is done automatically (might need to click a few buttons to accept it etc..)

The programme is split into 4 parts of about 14-15 minutes each and there are a few adverts between each part which you cannot skip over.

Hope this has helped you guys especially those you missed it or do not have access to ITV from where you are.

Because in 2008 the time system will change due to Libra and Gemina colliding on the seventh astro plane, making minutes double. Also capricorn will jump on taurus's back and run the wrong way round the earth making us spin in a quatum envelope forcing a space singularity.

Because of this ANY programme involving the military will be double as long as it is now.

If my memory is correct the officer on the programme on the
MAW Cadre was Maj. Jon Lear, OBE. In basic he suffered a broken
ankle and dipped out on the Kings Badge to a former Cpl. from
the Greenjackets. After recuperation he won it with another
intake.
The RSM on the front of the book 'Commando' by Peter Harclerode
& David Reynolds (WO1 Russ Craig) a Cpl. on that course was often
in trouble. He was informed that he would advance in promotion
and Maj. Jon, was correct in this observation.
Several fully trained officers in my day were immature skin of very
tender years!
I was at 21 a qualified piglet having been commisioned at 19 years
and 11 months.

repeated this wednesday at 21:00 hours ITV4 then 22:00 has the 55 year old commando about the filmaker.

Yep that Major is sound he was my company Major and we also had the troop officer as ours for abit before he went onto kayak round the arctic!

Although the programme did feature some of the aspects in the first bit of RT, it didn't portrait a true insight. Although they cannot possibly fit everything into the first episode, a lot of vital things were missed out. The programme has made RT look easy and that Jon guy, what a complete beefer, I hope for his sake he didn't pass out.

I wish that they spent more time on the begining of training because it was week 9 by the end and it didn't really show much.
