Now I have always been lead to believe that you can't shorten or change the shape of a particular muscle (apart from making it bigger or allowing it to get smaller). As far as I know muscle "shape" is mainly genetic therefore surely you're hamstrings do not get shorter as a result of cycling. They may grow, become stronger, lose fat from around that area etc... but actually decreasing in length1. Dont do much cycling/biking as it shortns your back hamstrings which is no good for running.
Hmmm, possibly, but then surely it would just be a lack of flexibility which could be improved with some flexibility specific training. Can't image cycling making you less flexiblemaybe the muscle itself doesnt reduce in length, maybe it just makes it harder to put through a full range of motion, or the flexability is reduced? Im not sure, just throwing ideas out.
