But I see no harm in airing my opinion here, away from the eyes and ears of those involved. If I were to meet the McCanns I certainly wouldn't say anything like this to them as there's a time and a place and that would be neither.
To say that this is anything but negligent parenting is, IMHO, a bit naive.
When a 5 year old put his baby brother in the tumble dryer and killed him, the parent (single) went to jail because she had 'nipped to the shops' - 50ft from her house.
How is it naive, it was negligent parenting to leave their 3 children alone at night a significant distance away in an unguarded house.
