any one out there conqured there fear of hights and how did

Don't knock the fella! Before i moved to a different part of the army i was scared of heights but i was so embarresed of bottling a jump during parachute training in front of my mates I just did it! If you want to join the para's that much then u'll jump no matter what! Im sure anybody with their wings will tell you they were at least a little scared on their first few jumps.

You carry on telling (no sorry not so subtly hinting) everyone that will listen that you a black ops underwater knife fighting ninja. I think you should read between the lines! I have never said I served with the regiment have I!!!! When i have stated 'i moved to a different part of the army' I am not at all hinting at SF because there are many parts of the British Army, I have just served in many parts.

Agree there, seems risky to apply, got through all the associated hassles, complete training etc. then find out you can't jump. I've never jumped though, or joined up, but I have conquered a fear of heights, its easier when you don't have all the pressure I found, not at the momment of going where you need the pressure to push you, but when building up, if its just for a little personal challenge theres not as much weight on your mind as something major that everyone knows you're going for. In a civ environment you can be surrounded by people which'll spur you on for the final push, but without the pressur ethe whole way out, as you can keep it quiet, let enough people know to stop you backing out, but not so many that it constantly plays on your mind. I think if you knew what was coming up without having conquered your fear that would be playing on your mind the whole time through training.

Anyway........... its definatly easier to conquer the fear of heights when not under pressure. You could try a high ropes course, thats how my daughter conquered her fear?

Yeah high ropes is good, thats what my sister first did, I started by doing zipwires when I was young, absolutly loved that so carried on doing things like that from then on. Love doing things in which I'm just hanging there from a rope, swinging around, flying forward, dropping down, whatever. Still for me though I look as parachuting out of a working plane very odd . I'll probably try it some time.

I found when I did tried to conquer my fear when I allowed them to clip me in tie off etc. I was terrified, when i asked just to look at the kit and checked their knots (stupid because I didn't have an *****ing clue what they should have looked like!) checked I was clipped etc. I felt so much better doing it.
