I *think* the latest one is still the Falklands...the green bible used to have a list of all the important ones you were expected to know, but that was three years ago.

I think it's in there as well, when the battle honours of the Corps became too numerous to list, they were replaced with the Laurels (there's a dit that there's one berry for each battle honour, don't know if there's any truth in that). Gibraltar is the most famous and the only one worn on the uniform.

Dragging all that up from memory of when I was in the application process, but the information's out there...have you tried the RM website? Failing that, your AFCO should be able to give you the relevant literature.

It could just about catch a Propellor driven model plane if the wind was in the right direction so the guys found it was usless against fast jets. Not long after the Falklands the thing was binned.

Bootnecks were indeed at Goose Green, a few helo crews (I think one helo was shot down and the crew killed, Pilot was a Capt Nunn RM but don't quote me on that one), A detachment from 3CDOBDERM Air defence troop (All Royal Marines), they used the Blowpipe which was about as much use as a rubber can opener, plus an RM sig detachment from HQ & Sigs along with some RM Staff Officers.

I was elsewhere when Goose Green kicked off. I found out about the Bootnecks who were there from an Oppo who was the illustrator in the Bde Int Cell.

DRO's on the 1st April 1982 was the best April fool ever! Last line of it said "Have a Good leave" The next day the Argies invaded and I sussed that my planned Holiday over the Easter Leave period had most definitely gone tit's up! Never got me deposit back either.
