I think anyone who doesn't get a sub 10min time on the PJFT should not worry in the slightest as they have passed the required time needed wich is 10:45 and it has been set at that time for a reason (would obviously help if you can get sub 10mins though) and also once you have completed the PJFT it's then all down to how well the individual prepares himself physically and mentally before attending PRMC. All they are looking for is someone of average fitness who will push themselves to their limits and wont give when staring at a challenge and shows good character

.
Anyway well done Rittefski as that is a top notch time mate, don't forget to tell us your PRMC date pal when you get it as you could end up going down there with one of the lads on here
cheers

Hey just out of curiosity if you fail the PJFT, how long before you can take it again. I've mine next week and while i did it in 9.04min last week in a practice run in the gym, i'm after picking up a niggling injury which might slow me down.

Hi bullet sponge, when i failed my first atempt i had to wait 8 weeks until i could re-take it but the AFCO did say the reason for that was because of the amount of seconds i had failed it by. i failed it by 40 seconds

AFCO say anything under 10:45 is a pass but realistically they expect about 9:30-10:00 and anything over 10 nearer 10:30-10:45 will leave them having second thoughts about entering you for PRMC. At the end of the day you got a good time now you should concentrate on your PRMC

Thanks for all the comments guys. I needed to get this of my chest as it did annoy me that I wasn't able to show my AFCO the best that I could do. However I passed, so its not as big a deal as it feels

.
Should be going in to book my PRMC soon, hopefully early April. It would be good to know if any other mfat guys are going at the same time.
Cheers,
Rittefski

I've got my PFJT tonight and have never been great at the 1.5miler (best ever was 9:25) but I can run all day at a good pace, so am hoping if I pass in a time ~10mins they will not assume I'm not fit enough for PRMC

i know people who get +10 mins and go on fine in RT, personaly i HATE tredmills and get realy sick on them.
i think as long as you pass the PJFT then that good, for whats more important PJFT or passsing your PRMC....

im slightly concerned about my pjft because i've not done any running in 3 weeks

.
1 week i was snowboarding, so is a kind of fitness, but when i got back from france i had a nasty chest infection which has only just cleared up, have been on antibiotics and what not - even had to cancel my previous pjft because of it
since my pjft is wednesday coming, im worried about doin high cv work incase it wears me down before the 28th, rather than helpin me to buck up so was just going to do lengths down the gym daily (like before bein ill) to help since its so close.
any thoughts? - would really be appreciated

Right please dont take this wrong way but if you think your fitness is ok go for it but dont be worrying that you are going to be to tired or worn out for the 28th 1.5 mile runs will be nothing when your in recruit training.

Lads, its a PJFT, get out there and do it, I remember I was shitting myself about it, but don't, the time is irrelevant, pass it and you get onto PRMC, job done, another tick in the box eh? Its nothing, your training team will never ever see your PJFT time, and as far as your afco goes he aint gonna be the one running along side you on your speed marches when your hanging out is he?? Just get under the time you need, and thats it!! And those lads who are nervous, forget it, set the treadmill at the required speed and get your head down and run for 10 mins, thats how simple and easy it is!

Passed mine yesterday as he ^^^^ said, its only 10 mins, just go for it and job done.
However I would suggest having a go on a treadmill first, I hadn't been on one before, and I was over 30s slower than on my normal cross country 2.4k run. And I twatted my head 2 mins into it on a brick beam in the gym.
I found that on the treadmill my legs were less worked, but it was harder on my cv, really hot and stuffy in the gym compared to the cold welsh outside air!
