I never wore any in training except for tabs/yomps and on exercise i wore some lycra shorts to stop chaffing.

Do you guys wear very short shorts for PT?

We had to wear the famous blue running shorts in para depot with the nappy to hold your bits in (like on swimming trunks) and thats all we had to wear down there on a bitterly cold morning in catterick.
