Selection is basically down to how much life experience you have, with particular relevance to being an officer in the marines (obviously including AIB/POC performance).flying ninja wrote:Does doing a degree give you a higher chance of being selected for training or/even giving you a higher chance of passing training as an officer for the marines?
If that made any sensebecause it didn't too me lol
A constructive university experience would grant you alot more then most 18 year olds would have. If you look at it logically there aren't even many 18 year old police officers due to lack of life experience.

That thread ways up the pros and the cons of getting a degree with the intention of becoming a Royal Marine officer better then I ever could.

i didnt mean do as little as possible i meant that your first year is basically making sure you have the background knowledge and essay and exam skills to get good grades in your next two years, you still have to pass your first year to get to your second.i also didnt say ignore the theory, just it is the boring side of the course after the politics side.it is all important, but with regard to being a recruit for example, knowing what sun tzu thought of war and clausewitzian theory etc isnt going to help you much, not until you become a general anyway.
oh ye and physiotherapy is where all the good looking girls are
Let us therefore brace ourselves to our duties, and so bear ourselves that, if the British Empire and its Commonwealth last for a thousand years, men will still say, 'This was their finest hour'
eh? I never even spoke about his degree.bigdog wrote:Thats good advice daka! Dont bother with reading, do as little as possible. Ignore all the theoretical rubbish, its pointless and wont help later.
