It's a really good technique of pyramids used to improve your sets. While I can do good with my pullups, my pressups are still poor...so I guess it's a case of targetting different muscle groupsTugg wrote:Bloody hellMrC wrote:I can pull off around 20 Pullups with good form from using the USMC guide that was posted on here not long backyour either a phyz ninja or weigh about 3 stone

Press ups...sorry
I'm 5'10 / 65kg.
MrC, to add some more "realism" to your pull-ups try hanging for 3 secs at the bottom with each extension and holding your chin above the bar for maybe 4 seconds. This is good practice for having to wait for matey next to you

My running is fine although i prefer longer distances to sprinting.
Ive always had a big frame and my rugby days have kept me in good shape, the doc wouldnt have passed me if i was a heffer now would he

digital...i wasabout 9% body fat been 7.4% at one point, probably less now since the running. Used to do alot of weights for rugby now gotta work on own body exercies. I would say the higher teens is quite high but not bad really just excess weight to carry round, you'd probably be walmer in the artic training aswell!

ye when u get into recruit training u do another test of bleep test, pull ups, press ups and sit ups and its all to bleeps, its ok. good luck to all the people who are yet to take PRMC, and dont worry about if you cant hit the max on press ups etc as long as your really diggin in and giving 110% then they will see that and im sure you all will be fine. good luck fellas!

65kg and 178cm. Can max out at 60 in 2 mins. Make sure you try and stay up for the full 2 mins at least on one set when doing your press ups, I was doing roughly 35 in a min then starting staying up for the full 2 mins, even if I wasnt doing many more and got it up to 60 in a couple of weeks (doing weights as well).

man . . .. . .
i must be the shortest guy on here at 5'7 and weighing in at 65.7 kg
im stuggling with my press ups i went to the gym yesterday and my gym intructor is a former marine and he put me through my paces.
he started me on a 10 min bike ride at 80 rpm then went on to a 3 min walk then a run that started at 8kph and progressed through to 14 kph for 16 minuites.
then rowing 1500 meters in 7 mins then some circuit training on these upper body machines at 50 / 35 pds.
after this he got me down on the floor doing marine style push ups. i was real enbarressed as i only managed 8 press ups, my arms were killing and my shoulders were renching. this was my first time in a structured gym.
is this normal or am i really week ?
got to go again today luckly ive got a month to train hard before PRMC

Mitch, I've done the beast circuit, and I can safely say it's a damn good circuit mate. Time yourself and push yourself hard as you can on it and you'll soon start to feel it. Try to include the runs between the excercises if you can.Mitch wrote:O that's cool cheers. At least i now know I'm doing them right! Should i just focus on this style or do other styles as well?
One other thing, what are a half sits and close arm press ups? I found it in the beast circuit but am not sure how to do it!
Thanks
Close arm press ups I believe, are what some people call diamond press ups, where your hands are together on the floor, they are hard too if you go down to the floor. Try and get as low as you can.
Half sit are where you do sit ups but your hands go together, thumbs locked and fingers pointing to your knees (which are bent as usual). You sit up as far as you can go and just slide your hands over your knees.
Have a search in google for images.
