Did anyone mention mars bars and lucozade? Industrial size family bag of mars bars and any other choccie snack that you can scoff.
Bin liners are handy for wrapping up kit in your bergan and webbing to stop it getting piss wet through.
extra toothbrush for webbing, ditto toothpaste.
Learn how to sew before you try it for the first time. You wil end up using all your plasters up.

Hmm, good tip, thanks. Swiss army aren't that bad though, I have a 12 year old one that still works fine and is much useful around the house. But then, I just use it when I lose the screwdriver / pliers / minisaw / corkscrew etc.

No none of us on my RSC got that one, we only got a tiny one with a picture of a lad breathing out of his arse mid situp. It had stuff like pictures of different types of rank and what they are and a couple of tips on exercises.

Take some Surgical Spirit with you as well, it's a godsend when training. When you get blisters / bergen burns, just rub it into the raw skin a few times that day (a bit painful), it hardens the skin in about 24 hours and the blister won't bother you anymore.
This might get confiscated, but the best way to do it is with a syringe, especially on feet; pop and bleed out the blister with syringe, then inject the surgical spirit under the loose skin. Heals much faster that way. Syringes are prescription items, but if you go to a pharmacy and ask for a needle exchange kit (if you don't mind pretending to be a junkie) they will give you lots for free, anonymously
