Fair point and I see where your coming from but from my own personal experience I just wasn't progressing at all although I am not training for selection at the moment but just looking to add mass for Rugby. Weights are increasing nicely on the pulldown machine - it just wasn't happening on the bar.

Sound. A good exercise for you to do for top-bulk to incorparate in your training would be dead-weight lifts with shoulder curls.

I've had the same problem with pull ups. It's out of all proportion to the rest of my upper body strength press ups are good etc.

I found using a combination of the two will help, still try to do as many as you can un assisted, but using the lat pull down thing to build core strength has worked wonders for me.

Same here mate, I'v always been good at chin ups but not that good at press-ups, I seem to hit a brick wall at 40, then I have to do press-up hold and try and bang out some more. Glad Iam not the only one

I'm starting to suffer from shin splints since I came back from POC. No matter how long I rest them they seem to just come straight back after a couple of runs. Bird, what are Orthotics mate? I am going to look into better supported trainers etc as I'm beginning to take it seriously. ta

Orthotics are like inserts for shoes which support the foot or arch etc, you can get them from shops like superdrug, heres an explanation of what orthotics do mate http://www.podiatrychannel.com/orthotics/

Mate I've got the same problem they just won't go away so my ACFO have advised me to see my GP and get referred to a orthotics specialist, atleast then hopefully i'll get it sorted.

Cheers Matt.

I had the same problem as you guys, and i tried all the 'off the shelf' orthotics, and they only made a small improvement. So i went to a specialist who took a mold of my feet and made some specific to my feet - they were expensive, but i haven't had anythin but a slight twitch about 4 runs since, which are no problem.

They worked wonders for me!

Chris :)
