We had to line up in 3 ranks in front of the canons then the corporal said "file off into the lecture room" instead everyone just piled in, so when we got in their we got pressups. that wasn't the worst punishment we got though.
We lined up in 3 ranks outside the gym for gym test 2 and two of the lads where talking when the pti walked out, so he says whos talking and no one admitted to it so everyone got punished "press up positions GO, BEND STRECH BEND STRECH BEND STRECH 20 as fast as you can GO"
some 60 or 70 later plus my arms collapsing a couple of times, the culprits finaly owned up

Hi, I’m training for the PRMC very soon, and thanks to this Forum I’m training doing the marine style press ups (arms in tight) and luckily I find these easier but in gym test 1 how easy is it for them to take some of the amount you have done off you because of bad technique. I’ve noticed my lower back going down towards the end when it gets hard. So I just wanted to know whether they’d take some off me. How strict are they with the pull ups and sit ups as well.

when i did my press ups no one said nothing even when i had one knee on the floor.
i think it depends on what coporal you have, we had a pretty mellow one pull ups are easier on a beam then on a bar.
however the wood gets very wet with sweat and they will Not!! let you dry your hands in traning i could only manage 15 with out stoping only managed 4 at prmc as i slipped of the bar because of sweat (top tip for bleep test remeber if you do go to level 13 just bear in mind you dont get to warm down like the others you go straight to the press ups).

Same here. I was the last one running the Bleep Test, so when we stopped, I went straight into helping the other fellows setup the mats for the press-ups, situps, etc. It was brutal... to say the least, I had a very fussy corprol. I managed to get maybe 35 pressups at the very best because I bad form toward the end, but I could do upwards of 80 before I arrived at Lympstone!

thx guys, why does the bleep test only go to level 13 it seems very low for the marines. I know a lot of my friends can at least get to level 13 and there not even training for the marines. I myself can get to 15.4 and I know I can improve.Q1. Do they just stop you at level 13? Q2.Cant you give your hands a sneaky dry on your shirt straight after the bleep test or something? I’m training the pull ups on a metal bar that goes in-between door frames and I’ve heard lots of people say that’s a lot easier then the wooden beam.

REF:BLEEP TEST, THATS THE MISTAKE I MADE MATE,IN THE ARMY I COULD EASILY GET TO LEVEL 14,WOULD NOT EVEN BREAK A SWEAT TILL LEVEL 10,BUT I FOUND MYSELF OUT OF BREATH BY LEVEL 6 FROM PEOPLE IVE SPOKEN TO IT SEEMS THAT THERE BLEEP TEST RUNS A LITTLE FASTER, E.G YOU ARE ACTUALLY RUNNING BY LEVEL 3,WHEREAS NORMALLY ON THE ONES IVE DONE YOU WOULD STILL BE WALKING FAST....
Only 2 people reached level 13 on my PRMC, most dropped out between 10.8 and 11.4 and they were all very fit lads. This one lad got 11.4 and got 2.53 on the assault course (very good time). Are you sure your doing the 20 meter bleep test, alot of people mistaken the 15 meter one for the 20 meter one (I've got to level 23 on the 15 meter one yet I managed 11.6 on my PRMC, go figure
). For me it was the lack of sleep that saw my legs go, i'd say I would of reached 13 on a good day, but my legs were burnt out at 11.6 and I couldnt go any further
)
Well I dont know what you call running, but bleep tests start off at 8.5 km/h, and increases 0.5 km/h a level. So I was 'light jogging' from the start, you'd look like a ponce walking at the speed (like those speed walkersYOU ARE ACTUALLY RUNNING BY LEVEL 3

yea its defiantly the 20 metre bleep test. I do it at college as part of a public service course we do it each month and see how much we improved. About 5 months ago I got to level 11.3 and I thought that was good but I took up boxing (because I knew it would get me fit for the marines) and straight away my cardio vascular improved no end. So I guess ill find out what ill get in the PRMC. (I bet they do make it harder then the normal bleep test)

lol well slaphead i was unsure if what your saying was true until you said "my mates who dont do any training can get lvl 13" lol Now i know for a FACT your not doing the same one thats done at lympstone, I run 25+ miles a week all of them i try to make 7 minute miles and when i got to lympstone im not gonna lie i was struggling at level 10, Level 10 is a RUN, people can say its only 13kph or whatever but i dunno it just seems an awful lot faster down there.
by the way, I did the bleep test in school when i wasn't running AT ALL, and i got 11.5 on a 'supposed' 20mts bleep test. It was bullshit to be honest, as somebody already said level 3 your running lol he's not joking... In school we was walking up till level 4 almost lol but at lympstone your jogging at level 3/4 then a quick jog at levels 5-8 and then from there onwards, your running, level 11+ your sprinting your ass off.
Im not saying your lieing or anything mate, But im just saying you have to be aware of these things because alot of people on here are very fit guys who couldn't get 13 on the bleep test, so plz dont say its 'easy' until you been there and done the marine bleep test, best of luck slaphead.

OK im no PT expert or anything but iv been looking up and comparing vo2 levels. Level 13 is around 57 mls. To reach that vo2 level when running you will have to run 1.5 miles in 8 minutes if that helps.

Intresting fact, Because i aint seen anybody here post a 1.5 mile treadmil time 8 mins and under, But even so.... that doesn't show the extra effort you have to put in because your always stop starting every 10 seconds lol. Anyway it goes to show how fit the guys are at CTC who get lvl 13.JM wrote:OK im no PT expert or anything but iv been looking up and comparing vo2 levels. Level 13 is around 57 mls. Ok speed freek mate, i dint mean to say it was easy. I was just confused that so many people don’t get higher levels. I’m shore the marine bleep test is much much harder and the one i do at college isn’t the same one. But you can see why i thought that. Ill keep doing the one at college and push myself harder and harder each time. (Sorry if anyone thought i was saying the marine bleep test is easy) thx for the help lads.
