But why would the MOD spend all that money on effective weapons when they have the SA80A2 which looks perfect on paper ............ plus its cheaper in the short term not to do anything

I have read and heard that the SA80 is not great, why did'nt the MOD just but M16's??

Backhanders in government and the MOD, it was a good idea once, and it's well suited to NI but it's not my first choice for a personal weapon.

Same as the 94mm, totally unsuited to desert conditions, they learnt from GW1 to insert dust covers on them, then subsequently issued un-modded ones to Telic, on lad lost his hand in accident and the Black Watch returned all theirs and said they'd make do...
