When do u get your Beret?

Why do the paras get a better helmet anyway? I want one like the yanks have, at least with them you can see where you are going!! The ones we have are next to chuffin useless when you are on your belt buckel!

Right, you wear a camoflage peaked cap until you pass off the square which can be either week 4 or 6 depending on platoon drill standard, then you get to wear the maroon beret with green backing behind the cap badge, then only if you pass P Coy(wk 10-16 depending on what year you joined) do you get to wear the beret without the backing.... If go on then to get your wings and pass out to battalion...The airborne helmet is different because it is made of fibre glass not kevlar so it is lighter (for parachuting) and doesn't have bulging bits by your ears so that a visor can be fitted.... 8)
