Maybe if you eased off writing to so many debates you could
find time to read them first, you have not been on here a month
yet and already you have writen 177 posts, a lot of people on the
forum have not written that many in 12 Months,
So you either have very fast fingers, or you have nothing else to do.
apart from insult people.

I had a feeling you would revert to type if I caste the line out far enough.

The thing is, you have taken a few unsolicited pokes in my direction for no apparent reason and, apparently think you can do so without a response. I never rattled your cage, so what business is it of yours what I do or don't say? Freedom of speech and all that! What?

One of the great things about a good forum is that you can have good banter back and forth without petty professional jealousies and other issues getting in the way. If it gets treated like a private club at the expense of and the exclusion of others, then it fundamentally detracts from the intended purpose of forums, which is discussion. The fact that certain people here might not fit your personal view of the ideal participant is neither here nor there. If you want to keep the forum private, just for a select few, then that's fine. But it's not, is it?

For the record, bootneck, I've been a soldier, reg and reserve, in Britain and Canada for 23 years. Very little of what I do or do not know is simply the result of books. So, I went out and got an education? Big deal! I'm certainly not going to apologize for what I know, either academic, or practical.

Yes, I've posted quite a bit in the last couple of weeks. Isn't that what forums are for? Isn't activity generation the very idea of a forum?

It's OK to dosagree with others. If we all stood around agreeing with each other, it'd be pretty damned boring. Again, is this not what forums are about?

As for the meeting face to face thing: If it makes you feel better! Whatever. I've never turned one down!

If you slowed down a bit and weren't so quick to write people off, you might even get to know them a bit.

I've met and worked with some decent marines over the years. People like Bob Pitt and Spot Watson. Good guys. I have nothing against RMs at all!

Now, as I see it, we have a choice, here. We can either start being civil to one another. We can politely ignore each other. Or perhaps there's some other option.

I'm all ears. Feel free to PM me if you wish.

I know that I'm new to this, but do I detect an atmosphere?

Atmosphere, do you mean;......

The gaseous mass or envelope surrounding a celestial body, especially the one surrounding the earth, and retained by the celestial body's gravitational field.
The air or climate in a specific place.
Abbr. atm Physics. A unit of pressure equal to the air pressure at sea level. It equals the amount of pressure that will support a column of mercury 760 millimeters high at 0 degrees Celsius under standard gravity, or 14.7 pounds per square inch (1.01325 × 105 pascals). See table at measurement.
A dominant intellectual or emotional environment or attitude: an atmosphere of distrust among the electorate.
The dominant tone or mood of a work of art.
An aesthetic quality or effect, especially a distinctive and pleasing one, associated with a particular place: a restaurant with an Old World atmosphere.

Aye, something like that.

A-S, what you are experiencing is what drove me off the wall last year. We had an influx of Walter Mitty characters, seen that, done better, got the DVD. It does tend to hack the populace off when Black Catting is the order of the day, and there is little or no recourse to substantiated proof of experience or qualifications/dates/names etc etc.
Hopefully this isn't the case but my rapid reading of some of your posts and the response from experienced members is to the contrary.
Up front, honest and direct. Shot over!
You should talk to somebody who gives a f**k.

El Prez: I understand your concern re the Walter Mitty thing. If that is the impression I gave, then I am at fault. I don't believe that I said I had done anything better than anyone else, though. That's not what I'm about and I can't stand that sort.

My advice to people re matters of fitness and nutrition are not my own words but those of emminently more learned people than I, who I was lucky enough to be tutored by. Some of them were profesors, others were senior members of the APTC. For what it's worth, I have a degree in physical education, and another in journalism. I also conduct research on matters of health, fitness, and nutrition because they are areas of particualr interest for me.

I am extremely lucky to have been exposed to some outstanding soldiers. Some of whome became my mentors. While much of my service has been reserve, the vast majority of that was full-time, going places and doing things I had never dreamed of. There is most definitely more than one way to skin a cat and I surely make no apologies whatsoever for the fact that I do not fit someone's "mould" or personally cherished idea of a concept.

I'm not going to harp on about experience here. People would only cry, "Bullshit" anyway, so what's the point? If people want to know details, they can PM me. I'll be happy to share if they appear genuinely interested. I'll show you mine if you'll show me yours! I am a people person and I am just as interested in other people's experiences.

Shot out!

Copied, thanks muchos. Just being up front with you.
That last correction was way off and wiped out our advancing frontline. You would have made a decent member of 29.

Then there's the TV weather girl who turns to her co-host and asks (about snow apparently), "and where;s that nine inches you promised me?". The laughter from the production staff was clearly heard.

Nakedness, I am told, is a phenomenon that occurs for no apparent reason after several brandy-spiked pints of snake bite (Castlemain XXXX and Strongbow)! Of course, I annot personally attest to that at all.

I think Boring the pants off everyone is reason enough
One of the great things about a good forum is that you can have good banter back and forth without petty professional jealousies and other issues getting in the way

I couldn`t agree more, so why didn`t you join the, "Royal Marines" oh, you were part of the 99.99% and wouldn`t have been able to hack it.

If you want to keep the forum private, just for a select few, then that's fine.

well, I personally would sooner the Riff raff stay outside the door, but thats just my personal view

For the record, bootneck, I've been a soldier, reg and reserve, in Britain and Canada for 23 years.

So you claim, but we only have your word for that Walter

So, I went out and got an education?

Statements aren`t usually followed by a question mark, some education?

It's OK to dosagree with others.

If thats Education, you can keep it, it should be, "Disagree"

If we all stood around agreeing with each other, it'd be pretty damned boring. Again, is this not what forums are about?

couldn`t agree more, but your posts are like buckets of water on the old camp fire.

As for the meeting face to face thing: If it makes you feel better! Whatever. I've never turned one down!

Shyte, I thought my knees were knocking............................hey, my knees ain`t in Canada

If you slowed down a bit and weren't so quick to write people off, you might even get to know them a bit

In this case, hopefully not. BUT, there are a lot of people on this forum, who have built up great friendships over time, and would go out on a limb to help and encourage younger members of the forum, in any way shape or form. Not to enter a forum, all water pistols blazing trying to impress the people of the forum, with the text book drivvel that you have posted.

I've met and worked with some decent marines over the years. People like Bob Pitt and Spot Watson.

Well, I know several Spot Watsons, and at least 2 Bob Pitt`s names are easily conjured up.

Now, as I see it, we have a choice, here. We can either start being civil to one another. We can politely ignore each other. Or perhaps there's some other option

I prefer the third, Don`t slam the door on the way out.

I'm all ears.

So you are  with Lugs like that, wouldn`t a career in the, "RAF" have been more suited?
Some of them were profesors

its that old Educational thing again isn`t it? ! ¬ *%£

I have a degree in physical education, and another in journalism. I also conduct research on matters of health, fitness, and nutrition because they are areas of particualr interest for me.
Do you ever sleep ? :o
I am extremely lucky to have been exposed to some outstanding soldiers
While much of my service has been reserve, the vast majority of that was full-time,
:o what?
I am a people person and I am just as interested in other people's experiences.

I suppose thats where you got all yours from, other peoples experiences, I for one still think your a very good walter.

Left 300 fire for effect!
well, if they`re that far out, it doesn`t say much for your map reading skills
Of course, I annot personally attest to that at all.

that edumacation and degrees certainly did come in handy.

Anglo Saxon

Starting a reply with the words "LISTEN SUNSHINE", and ending it with the word "GOBSH*TE" is not going to endear you to many people on this forum.

May I suggest that you engage brain before hitting the keyboard. I'm all for intelligent input on all sorts of topics be they service related or just thoughts about the world in general.

I am the first to admit that some times I fly off the handle with some posters but have been trying to count to ten just recently. It has worked so far for me. Why not try it yourself?

You cannot Bullsh*t Bullsh*tters, Royal has and will Black Cat anybody when aroused. The expression "Tell it to the Marines" meant if you can get them to believe you you can get anyone to believe you.

Artist, I hear what you're saying. I think maybe you are not privy to some of the history which lead to this, though, but no matter. You posting is well-intended. The count to ten thing is a good point. As for "believeing", I'm not on a quest to get people to believe me - that's just not part of the equasion. I'll gladly share stuff, just as I will gladly accept other people's advice and shared experiences. That's why I enjoy forums such as this. Hopefully, now we can move on.
