Subs for military forum

Post by thokenda »

Just caught up with the backlog of forum entries after a holiday in UK for three weeks.
I think it an excellent idea and would certainly be willing to subscribe £5,- to maintain the standard of the Forum.
In my experience other similar sites, or those that claim to re-unite the 'old and bold ' , all require an annual subscription for membership.

Count me in...although if there were objections, would it be a valid alternative to grant people access to this 'inner circle' after they have served their time and participated intelligently (ish! ) and in an acceptable manner to the moderators on the forums over a period of time? The little (and big in some cases) twerps wouldnt be able to keep up a pretence of maturity over too long a time!
Why? Because I can!

I resemble the remarks made by our Elvis impersonator. 8)
I`m as sick of these nobbers as the rest of you. Besides removing them, one other benefit will be the ability to put phots directly into your posts, instead of having to link to a website, as at present.
At the moment, Jay is standing the cost of providing us all with this site. It isn`t cheap. To provide a better service means more "Bandwidth" and that means more cost. Five of your English pounds per annum, is a small amount to pay.
I support the motion,

That would also be five of our NEW English pounds (incidentally, can we still call it that? :o ) H, none of this 30 bob, a tanner and a shilling lark from you old and bolds out there!

Providing a Fat Grey Haired Rockape can still join I'm all for it. After all somebody has to keep an eye on you Bootnecks!

I have only been here for 5 minutes but I have enjoyed it so far. Like most sites of this kind there are Numptys, Knobheads and No Nowts but they are easy enough to spot and ignore.

Personally I would like the option of postal payment to be available as I am one of those Dinosaurs who do not believe in Credit Cards. But if not I am sure I can find a way around it.

Errmm let me see. That's 30 Bob times 3 plus half a knicker. Bloody hell that's 1,200 old pennies!! I only get 7/4d a week pocket money off my missus! I'll start saving now. :)
If I wanted to listen to an *rsehole, I'd fart!

From what has been posted over the past 24 hours it is already apparent that the concensus is 'YES'. Obviously a few things need to be thought through prior to any changes being made, but the general principles are acceptable to most.
Jay provides the means by which we are holding this and other debates. It provides endless hours of enjoyment and frustration for many of us. I think it would be arrogant of us to dictate how any income from this idea is spent. I have no idea how much it costs Jay to support our burblings, indeed I have no idea how he provides the technical means to connect us all. What I do know is that I am very grateful for the opportunity he does provide. Consequently any cash should be left in his TLC for him to utilise as appropriate.
Civvie street has grown and expanded, been absorbed, changed and beaten about. Nothing stays the same; if Civvie Street had remained inert we would have outgrown it and left in droves. Supposedly change is good and broadens the mind, rather like the way Loz's posterior has been broadened by hours in front of her screen. 8)
The subject of probation has yet to be discussed fully, but certainly seems a starter.
At least the argument has started, change is on the way, and improvements will follow. For those who, like me, have had enough of the 'who's best RM or Para?' brigade, hold tight, keep smiling, we will overcome!
Apparently Engelbert Humperdink has been booked for a summer season at Camp X-Ray, all he has to do is sing "Please Release Me Let Me Go" ten times a day.
You should talk to somebody who gives a f**k.

i agree that wannabe wannabees do ruin most things by pointless posts etc..

maybe the inner circle and out circle are a good idea, maybe a jury so to speak where new members who want to be part of the famous inner cirlce have to apply? then it is up to the Mods and Admins to accept there application?

i have noticed that a few posts have been 'locked' maybe something similar to this could be used to sort the members from the regular, genuine people

i feel that most people, if wanting to join would be happy to apply to join the site if they saw the wealth of info available so a browsing fuction could be added but cannot post without a certain degree of membership.

cheers, dave
