They had a photo of the pair and I took the rifle to be the new AI in .338Laupa.
Now when I used a spud gun as a kid I could always hit the fat spotty boy five rows in front of me if I loaded up with a King Edward,but if I used Jersey Royals the shot would fall short and land in Jane Seymores' satchel!!.

I've been getting better results since I swapped all my powder with jam.

Tried marmalade but the bits clog in the rifling

Why just not call up an MMG section, ask them to load with mark 8Z ammunition and watch them chew up the target up to 4,500 yards.

Weel US snipers qualify at 1000 yards with them... Hey I've been told to lighten up and learn the English sense of humor...Your turn. Yes you are correct they are a bastardized version of the Rem. 700. I've also "heard" that you AI is a better weapon, as long as you don't take it to the field...

Before the bastardized Remington 700 (1970's & early 80's). Do you recall modified M-14's being used as the sniper weapon? Seems the round was modified, too (possibly a boat-tailed projectile).

The US army uses a M-21 bastardized version of the M-14. The marines never have. Now spotters may have been equiped with them. I however am not a sniper historian, I wish I was, but to my knowledge the answer is no we didn't use an accurized M-14

The info makes sense. Found an M40A1 link this morning. This source puts the Remington 700 in service in 1966.

Different Jane Seymore but just as attractive so answer is still YES PLEASE!!.
Just to look as though this is still on thread!,any of you train spotters know if the M1D (Sniper version of the M1 Garrand)made it to 'nam as a stop gap before the M70?.
