Wher e has 1 been?

Post by salamander521 »

It has been a long time ... I ended up moving onto my yacht here in the UK and trying to get a phone line hooked up onto the pontoon was a flocking nightmare!!!
And when I finally got a phone line - they couldnt install Broadband... dial up was too much hassle.

Finally got Broadband..... At long last....

Great to be back !!! And more of the twins this summer... try keeping the big boys in when the sun is shining :P

Penarth Marina... Soon off to the South coast - Lymington.
Better sailing on the south coast... The Bristol Channel - Unpredictable!

Not been too far only in and around the Brisol Channel - Swansea coastline, Minehead Somerset, Watchet, Portishead, Lymington, Padstow, Clovelly...
Plan was to do France last year - made it as far as Padstow before our engines failed due to dirt in the fuel tanks :(

Nightmare, quite fancy doing something like that one day though. Sounds quite chilled.

Wicked

Post by salamander521 »

Had a 28ft'er before my Pride & Joy and after that I became hooked.
Decided to rent out the house and go for a bigger boat to live on.
Long term plan is to set sail and keep heading south with no plan to return... wherever the wind takes us is where we'll end up.
No regrets.... Its awesome!!

Sounds great. How many of you live on it? Does it cost much to run?

Sleeps 10 though only 2 live onboard during the week and 4 at the weekend.
The wind is free so cost is kept to a minimum... Only time use the engines is coming into port or when caught out in the rough seas (or should I say channel).
Life is very different living on a boat

Awesome isn`t how I`d describe living aboard during an English winter. Fine if you like the smell of damp caravans and condensation. :o Then there’s the warmth, or sad lack of it, plus the monotonous ching ching ching ching of the lines hitting the mast, such a joy that is at 02 30 when you’re trying to get your zeds in :x

What about the head? I bet it`s a chemmy, what fun and not embarrassing in any way  Pump and dump when she’s under way is it Z?
Live aboards are popular down here but the climate helps and Aussies are more used to the idea of their neighbours effing off in a forty footer for two years and teaching the kids onboard. Try telling your L.E.A. that you were taking the kids out of skool in UKers, they`d larf their bollocks off. tut
There is a land-based equivalent down here where you buy a serious off roader with a camper trailer and head off into the GAFA (great australian fark-all). Some of our members do it every few months.

Enjoy yerself Chesty, a young lad like you won`t have any problem keeping warm though, hey 8)
