Always the bloody mortars that get to do stuff like that! Someone has got their nose very brown to have got to do that.
Personally i think Sigs should have done it

Im running 7:50 1.5 miles atm and trying to build my upperbody strength up only doing 59 pushups in 2 mins at the moment. I went 3 months into training at Vimy barracks 3.5 years ago when i was joining RWF but had to leave cos of family probs but thats all sorted now so nothing to stop me this time.
7:50 BFT is pretty damn good...keep that going and you will absolutely thrash all the other hat wannabes at RSC
I think you will be going back into Vimy barracks, helles is getting knocked down and rebuilt. So all the Para recruits will have to live in "Hat-land" for the time being
The interview you have is i guess your formal (ish) job interview. I would advise turning up in a suit and tie and looking the part.
They will ask you things like,
-Why you want to join the regiment (excitement, adventure, doing something different, for an active lifestyle dont want a deskjob...all that sort of stuff)
-Why you want to join the paras over another your local infantry regiment (i just said, because i have to earn my right to be in my regiment by passing p-company, and also i want to go on operations and the paras seem to be at the forefront of UK foreign policy implementation and war on terror)
-They will ask you about your family, brothers, sisters, hobbies and interests apart from getting fit for the paras (if you dont do much like me just make something up but make sure you can back it up just incase they get interested and ask you more, or worse case scenario the interviewer also shares the same hobby!!)
-I also got quized on how long training was (26 weeks, plus 4 weeks doing jumps at RAF Brize Norton), where the British Army is currently operating or based (loads of places just to name a few, Afghanistan, Iraq, Cyprus, Kosovo, Sierra Leone, Norway, Germany, Canada, and of course the UK).
Thats all i can remember from my interview. They may be nice and cut it short if you bluff your case and make yourself look good!
Thanks for the quick reply Paratrooper, I also spoke to another lad who attended the insight course with me, he had his interview a week ago and (aparently from the mouth of the recruitment team) expects to start at depot in march.
If all goes well can i expect to start so soon? i also had to fill out a security form with my application (due to being born in NI despite it being under a BFPO addy ), what are the chances of this being cleared as i heard it can be a timely process?
You might have to wait a bit for the security clearance.
After your interview you will have to wait maybe a week or 2 until you go onto the Recruit Selection Centre. After that, i had to wait about 2 weeks until i started training in catterick.
i did my adsc in september and im going to catterick and three weeks and i had no problems with anything i.e. waiting for documentation or physical so i personaly think that whateva anyone on here says u'll never really know as everyones app is different.
p.s. i first applied for paras in june last year so i think it has alot to do with how slack or not slack you're AFCO is .

You are right there. My AFCO is fairly quiet compared with one in a large city and it took me no time atall to get through the application process. The only thing that takes time is the medical forms to be signed by your doctor and sent back.

Jim-UK - your clearence will depend on a few things - did you live outside the 'married patch'? Did you go to school here? Basically did you live in civ areas?
It will take about six weeks plus if everything goes smooth - if there are any 'shadows' in your cupboard it may delay it. If yo lived here and now live on the mainland it will take longer as they have to check you out for both locs.
Again chaps many thanks for all the info, my interview went great, obviously nervious to start with but recruiting Sgt basically went through the insight course with me and asked about my private life ect, he says i could possibly be in training within 2 months.
Next i have an interview with Sgt major on the 1st of Feb - will this be a para sgt major or a recruitment Sgt major?
Big stevie - no i'm pretty sure we were on the married quarters (was only a tot), but then went to Germany.
