Hey guys just a quick question or two, is anyone here actually a PTI ? so i can have a bit more of a detailed chat with them.
Also is the RAF entry fitness test any different to a regular trade, if so, is there any chance some could state the requirements for me.
I.E - 1.5 miles in 10 seconds or something mad like that
thanks, any help would be much appreciated as i too am thinking of applying to be a PTI.

So far as I can remember, there was a female PTI recruit when I was going through basic training, and therefore their entry level fitness test at Halton would have been the same as for all other trades, although I do think slightly more was expected of her by the PEd staff.
However I do know as part of the application process, prior to basic, potential PTI's go down to RAF Cosford for a few days. I believe this is to assess their aptitude for the trade. I am not sure if any physical tests/assessments are carried out. I am off down to the PEd Flight later today I will ask one of the Cpl's down there to see if they can shed any more light on the subject for you.....

I dont think so, but you do have to demonstrate your skill in alot of sports in an assessment test.
Requirments are here:-
"GCSE/SCE in English language at Grade C/3. Approved standard of fitness in several sports assessed by formal interview and test. Candidates must be able to swim"
Had any luck Dawnie ?

I have the information as promised, sorry it has taken so long. If you could PM me your email address I will forward it on. It is a 4 page word document and includes the programme for the 3/4 days you are at Cosford, what you will be assessed on and what standards you are expected to achieve etc.
Also I dont know if it appeals to you, but the PEd Sgt at the Unit im located at is quite happy to have potential PTI's come and spend a few days with them, in order to give a better idea of what the role involves.
It may be worth contacting your nearest RAF Unit and speaking to the PEd Flight to see if they are as accommodating.
