You`ve obviously read Johnny Hacket`s book about the Third World War then
. The Sovs saw no distinction, beyond size, in the use of Divisional Artillery and Theatre usage of thermo nuclear devices. Their Div Arty was capable of taking out complete grid squares. Problems with NATO not being able to hold the third wave( which would form-up in western Poland as the first wave was getting the good news) led to a concept of deep interdiction with this third wave. Interdiction means "farking about with". The use of deep penetration air attacks etc. The concept was known as "Deep Strike" but to those intended to work on the gig, it was universally known as "Deep Shite"
