haha :D decent people? here?! you point them out to us and we'll take 'em outside and give them a good kicking! :D

I wouldnt worry about comments on ARRSE getting anywhere near catterick though Ria, I doubt half of those walters will ever see anymore than what they show on the news! :D (ah, I've just invited a stream of abuse now haven't I? :D oh well!)

According to the results I did it in 2hrs 27mins, so there's 3 more minutes I can lay a claim to! :)

I've been looking for the photo's though, cant seem to find them, I hope they get uploaded eventually :)

Got there before you, Wholley.

Nice try with the cunning disguise Harvey, but as fast as you post your contributions will be deleted and the guy with the keys will lock you out.

The next Paras 10 2009

If this race is on again next year does anyone know if it will be at Catterick or Aldershot, as it was at Aldershot years ago. Thanks.

One finger avoidance doo-dah.

Take it, Wholley, that you have alerted Beast to the recurrent infestation by Harveyonetwoandthreeandbackagain. Such a clever disguise! :D

He ain't that quick to respond, though ..... we've had a day out walking in Derbyshire waiting for him to 'get back.'

Not Beast ..... Harvey. Must be doing his homework.

mmmm.....Not sure about that.
Some of them appear to work at Catterick, as they had seen some correspondance from the MoD about my documentary proposal.
I think it was one of them that set up a Hotmail account in my name & bombarded the OC of P Coy with emails several times a day, pretending to be me.
I've told the OC it's not me, but I think the damage is done.
I didn't bother trying to find him at the race to explain.
If he wants to think I'm a dick-head then that's up to him.
Once people start to ridicule you & not take you seriously, it's hard to find a way back.
But I shall hang in there.
Any proposals I've put forward re docus/newspaper articles have been intelligently presented & well thought out.
So trying to make me out to be some kind of loony mong suggests to me there are people who feel a little threatened by my proposals.

Putting stupid posts about me on ARRSE is one thing. (I'm really not bothered what people say about me on Forums any more.) Sending threatening PM's is quite another.
The line had been crossed from "cyber threats" to "real life threats", & I did wonder if one of them would try something at the race.
I didn't think they would actually shoot or stab me, :o but I expected some hassle.
They are anonymous. I am not.
I never thought coming on a Forum with my real identity would be a problem, as I'm not serving.
I know hundreds of musicians & we all have websites displaying our real names & photos. We don't have to hide our identities because of threats to our safety when we play gigs.

The Paras 10 is a civilian race that anyone can do, so my taking part shouldn't have been an issue for anyone.
Thank goodness it was a great race & no-one spoiled it for me.
I must stick a write-up on here to encourage even more people to do it next year. (Sept 13th 2009, Catterick)
Hope everyone has recovered!! :D

Jayne & Hypers....you're doing it next year even if I have to drag you round by your hair......

Alex.....goodbye my fair-weather friend. ( I expect you're still lurking)
I don't know if you chucked your toys out of the pram because I wouldn't promise you I'd jack if my hip was bad. But like I told you, I finish what I start. I'll miss you.

Harvey.....don't PM me again you bore.

Tell you what Ria, you forgo the bergen, and give me a piggy-back all the way round and you've got a deal...

I was thinking more along the lines of a barrow, trailer or rickshaw .... whichever Ria is most comfortable with.

Haha :D if you're prepared to let someone push you up that last 'land of nod' hill in a wheelbarrow you're braver than I am! :D

Has anyone got a picture of that hill by the way? I cant seem to find one anywhere, surely there must be one online somewhere though :)

Yeah, I'd like to see a pic of that hill. What fcukers putting it right at the end like that!

Does anyone know if the race route is open to the public all year round??
Not the start/finish at Catterick Garrison obviously, but the rest of it?
It looks like normal public access, as there were public roads running through it, though I guess it could all be private MoD land???
I fancy doing a couple of trips up there before next years race to get some sneaky practice in!!

I spent a week on exercise at Catterick a few years ago - the range controller put us in a plantation on top of a hill where all the trees had been cut down, so of course all our tents blew away on the second day.
Spent the rest of the week either in Wathgill camp, or bivvying.
There are some fab hills up there, especially with pine poles and hernia boxes...

The hills aren't too bad except in a couple of places really. There are a few really short and steep ones and a couple of longer more drawn out ones - it just varies between them a bit throughout.

I had no hills to train on as I live in norfolk, but I still managed to finish well within the three hours. I'd say the best bet is to get on the stepper at the gym, find the closest thing that resembles a hill locally and beast yourself on it.

To be honest I think that if you just keep at it and train hard for a year, a lack of hills to train on won't be that big an issue :)

Hill training would help buit IMHO opinion need to really be at the top of your game in terms of cardio vascualr fitness. In other words your recovery times are short, you can sprint then recover etc.

Just my take on it.
