Homosexuals in the Armed Forces.
Red, the moderator suggested giving it a rest unless someone had something constructive to say. I deem my last posting constructive. You're free to disagree, but I'm not sure that anyone appointed you the official thread-killer around here. I believe that the software used on this website allows the administrator to lock a thread, so the mods can stop this discussion anytime they want to. I think SpliffKiller's postings have been interesting, especially the last one about Israel's military.
To think of the future and wait was merely another way of saying one was a coward; any idea of moderation was just another attempt to disguise one's unmanly character; ability to understand the question from all sides meant that one was totally unfitted for action; fanatical enthusiasm was the mark of a real man -- Thucydides

I don't think the thread should be locked. I only mentioned this by way of saying that there's no need for Red to act as de facto moderator. I preasume that a split arse carries the same meaning as an American split tail, which means female.

I had a couple of mates who were submariners in the early 90s, their cook was gay and all the guys knew it. Being in a tin can out to sea for months at a time some ones sexuality wasn't an issue for these guys who were all great mates.
....................................................................................................................And the very last thing you want to do is call a brave gay sailor a QUEER in a nuclear submarine 3 things could happen 1 The End of the Modern world 2 "since he was the cook" plutonium left over in your food fresh from the reactor or 3 a torpedo attack while you are a sleep none of the above are very pleasant.
What sort of torpedo are you thinking of?

It's there people...just have to read it.Cliodna wrote:Don't you lot think that all this nit-picking is going a bit too far now???
People have their opinions about the whys and wherefores of why queers shouldn't (or should) be allowed in the Armed Forces.
No-one is going to change anyones mind here....there is obviously always going to be 2 camps (bad pun) on this issue.
The angora jumper and sandals with socks do-gooding brigade got their way and now its no longer "illegal" to be a queer in the Armed Forces, hence, as whats seen by some, the active recruiting of queers.
Chuckie1970,
please don't start spouting the "my friends a girl and she does a front line job". We've debated that elsewhere and with far better examples than that of some split arse who reports to the Captain.
So unless anyone has anything constructive to say on this topic, I suggest that you just give it a rest.
To say that it is now tedious is something of an understatement. Oh and i also have appointed Redhand the following: De-facto moderator, Grand Inquisitor, and Grand Mufdhi of Jerusalem.
**LOCKED**
"Don't mess around with the guy in shades at night" Corey Hart...and he means it too...
So whats the point of this website then?
I , obviously mistakenly, thought that it was to provide debate on a range of topics. But I guess that's only true if certain personalities think that's OK - since when did we join the ranks of New Labour?
Redhand, if you don't want to take any further part in this debate then don't read the thread - it's a simple answer to a stupid problem, but leave those of us that want to carry on the debate alone.
Admins, is this topic a problem? Or is it simply a case now that a topic can be deemed closed just because an admin has become bored with the debate?
Answers on a postcard please.

Nuisance
Right you lot...I've just logged in and to say I'm pissed off is pretty accurate.
Gash,
As for the topic being a problem....no its not.
What was becoming a problem was as I said before, the nit picking and petty arguing twixt the Colonials
At no stage in my post did I say that the topic was to be locked or closed.
REDHAND...Apology Accepted, and appreciated
Warnings withdrawn
I apologise for any confusion my post yesterday may have caused. I only asked that the nit picking be stopped and a return to the topic was made....NOTHING MORE.
Don't start pointing fingers if you lot can't read whats written down in front of you.
Now, can we get back to some proper debate please.

1. Me and Kat were the last ones to put up anything that was sourced. So I have no idea what your talking about, sorry.Cliodna wrote:Right you lot...I've just logged in and to say I'm pissed off is pretty accurate.

REDHAND.....you are a knob. Get yourself a life and stop reading more into what people have written than what is actually there.
Snyder was right in what he said ref this topic.
THIS TOPIC IS NOT LOCKED!!!!!
What I asked for was constructive debate......simply because people are sick and tired of seeing you and Snyder having your petty little arguments all over the place.
Fine, you don't like what Snyder has to say but get over it. If you feel so strongly, simply don't read anymore of his posts.
I'm going to give you not 1 but 2 warnings here........you lucky, lucky boy. Only people of a certain, how shall we say?.....calibre...get 2 of them awarded together
Number 1 - for continuing on this thread in the same vein, after an all stations was put out to return it back to a proper debate
Number2 - For editing one of my posts to suit your own ends.
I'm quite capable of speaking for myself and don't need idiots like you doing it for me.
To the rest of you, I apologise for any confusion my post yesterday may have caused. I only asked that the nit picking be stopped and a return to the topic was made....NOTHING MORE.

2. It was a JOKE! for f**k sakes cliodna...what are you on about? You think i honestly want to be the 'Grand Mufhdi of Jersualem' to suit my own ends?? I am perfectly aware this topic is not locked.
3. This has to be the third or fourth time i've seen you write down a tirade because something someone wrote down that evidently REALLY pissed you off. I know being a moderator of an internet forum must be like trying to captain a battleship but if you think im a) a knob b) an idiot c) usurper of the Grand Mufhdi throne, why not just ignore what i have to say??
4. As for Snyder, i will try VERY VERY hard to not get into petty little arguments with him.
5. I accept your warnings, but i thought i'd challenge them, thought it was only fair. Now, you may ban me due to my reply, which i guess...i can do nowt about.
"Don't mess around with the guy in shades at night" Corey Hart...and he means it too...
I would like to say, for the record, that I am not petty. Everything I write is of utmost vital import. But I will acknowledge having needled Red on a few occasions. He's one of those needle-able sort of guys, and needling the needle-able is one of the joys of the Internet, even if the needling is needless. But I will henceforth endeavor to get my jollies in a fashion that does not involve needling Redhand, because frankly while I do enjoy needling, needling is not something I absolutely need to need.

what if Ernst Roehm
I found the one about Israel's military rather interesting too.
Hitler only had two du friends in his entire life. One was Ernst Roehm.
Ernst Roehm was likely the first Nazi. He is known to have found Hitler his first job in 1919. He and Hitler had both been wounded in WWI. Roehm was one of the few survivors of the Beer Hall Putsch . While Hitler was imprisoned in 1924 Ernst Roehm built up the SA into the largest single political force in the country. By 1932, the SA was the most powerful army in Germany, but Ernst Roehm had two fatal flaws.
Ernst Roehm was a socialist. He argued with Hitler over the necessity of a second revolution to fulfill the Socialist concept in National Socialism. It wasn't safe for anyone to argue with Hitler.
The other was that he was an incredibly indiscreet homosexual. He stocked upper levels of the SA with handsome young gay men. He used party funds to have enormous banquets which became orgies. He had sued a hustler who had tried to blackmail him over love-letters and had been sent to Bolivia due to it and disagreements with Hitler for 5 years.
Think about this ...had Ernst Roehm not trusted Hitler or was tip off about Hitler plan to eliminate him theres a good chance that germany would had never started WW 2 and just become a communist country of course this also could be a double edge sword a joint russia and germany could had been worse than Hitler by himself or could had stay in a dissray communist state with no real inspiration or goals. ???? Your putting way too much emphasis on Ernst Roehm. I don't see how you think he is so crucial...?? He was a sick wacko that was removed with due support of the German populace.
The German people were sick of the decadence of the interwar years and the lack of jobs. They felt that the French and British were sticking it to them pettily(sp?) and unfairly, which could be argued, they were.
Hitler merely took the rage of the German people, organized it, and spilled it onto Europe, quite effectively too.
Also Spliff, im assuming you haven't read some earlier posts. But this started off with me saying "Homosexuality has never been nor will it ever be commonly accepted in ANY armed forces"...at least at the squad level. The highers can enforce policy, but its the NCO's who run the show when the s**t flies. Simple.
As for Greece and Sparta...i already posted an article from www.grecoreport.com published by Greek Americans who more or less debunk what Kat was saying.

The manner in which German frustration and grievances were expressed had roots far deeper than the "decadence" of the 1920s.
