Lt Cdr Robbie Robinson

Post by El Prez »

This gentleman has an obituary in the Telegraph, very interesting reading. Especially this small paragraph;
During the Korean War Robinson served with 41 Independent Company, Royal Marines, as a demolition specialist. It was attached to the US Marine Corps, and formed the rearguard at the retreat from the Chosin Reservoir. On returning to Britain, Robinson was not amused to be told that this counted as shore service and he was now top of the roster to go to sea.
Some things never change! RIP Sir.

Must have been because the Chosin was frozen. My deepest respect to the Bootnecks who fought alongside our Leathernecks at the Frozen Chosin.
Per Mare, Per Terram. Semper Fidelis. Rest in Peace Bootneck. :(
Once a Marine, Always a Marine.
Semper Fidelis,
Chris

Lurch... what makes it even stranger is that he was a Naval Lt!
Having read the obit all I can honestly say is "What a bloke!"
It is people like this that put the Royal into the Navy and the Great in Great Britain. I bet he had some dits!
Drums beating, colours flying and bayonets fixed...

Thanks for clarifying Sticks.
My grandfather was first a Leatherneck (1919-1921) and then a Sailor (1922-1945). LtCdr. Robinson's service struck me as possibly a similar circumstance.
Bootneck or Naval Lt, he still has my respect! :)
Once a Marine, Always a Marine.

Chris

Top bloke, Aye.
D`you think he was really "attached " to USMC, or were they just good friends :P did the obit writer mean to say Dryforce? We`ve talked about the Chosin Frozen ages ago, use search.
