Looking at the different tools on the market, Gerber, Leatherman and the old swiss army knife.
From the Leatherman range I was thinking of either the PST II or Pulse tools. From the Gerber vareity I was torn between the MP600 and the MP650 Evolution, or maybe at a push the Urban Legend. From the swiss army range it'd be the biggest and best!
I am being drawn from the swiss knife because it does not have pliers, which is a shame.

I choose leatherman ... because I can spell it and the other make sounds too much like a rodenty type creature ... can you imagine having to write home about it ... "Yeah mate I bust me gerbil on a ..." see get my point?
Ok, I'll leave this thread for serious discussion on leathermen and their gerbils ...
I'm still looking for one of the old 'original' issue clasp knives.... it'll do me.
The one with the marlin spike for splicing and a wide and thick blade,
rounded not pointed. Bit sticking out for a screwdriver and criss cross pattern for a non slip finish - All metal and great gear....
Can't find one over here - Anyone know of a source ?
Cash clothing or my old kit bag!
They don't do the criss cross pattern anymore, the new ones are designed so you slip and gash your hand open Gives the MAs something to do.

I got my Leatherman from the stores but bought a Gerber for fishing. They both have advantages but when someone offers you a Leatherman for free it would be rude to say no... wouldn't it?

And why do you need a Wave, there are more blades on that thing than in a knife shop!!!! Pulse seems perfectly adequate, but then the T3 limited edition Gerber.....
Also I saw a multi tool much similar Black Rat's idea, in Halfords they have them for a tenner!
