How fit do you have to be when you attend Harrogate, I know they don't expect you to be superman but what sort of level of fitness.

You'll want to be running a 1.5 miler in about 10.30, and be able to push out around 60-70 press ups and the same amount of sit-ups in 2 mins.

Make sure you check the fitness requirements though, for the official requirements. I've just given you good targets to aim for.

Hope this helps, and good luck :)

I've also heard that you have another medical at AFC Harrogate I was just wondering what sort of medical tests they do when you arrive at harrogate?

Everything mate, blood pressure, heart rate etc but they also examine your joints, especially your ankles and knees. Your reflexes will also be tested (little hammer tap on the knee etc). Your hearing and eyesight will be tested as well. It's basically a full inspection, like an MOT on a car. If you've been honest on your RG 8 med forms then you don't have anything to worry about ;-)

Oh sorry mate :P of course you have! The one at Harrogate is much less of a big deal, it's just really checking that you haven't picked up any injuries between ADSC and there. They'll also check that you're up to date with all your jabs, and probably give you a few as well. Nothing to worry about though mate, now that you've passed your medical at ADSC there should be no problems at Harrogate unless you've lost a limb or something serious in the meantime :P

Sorry about the previous mistake :D hope this answers your question a bit better!

I don't think you do, but don't hold me to that! It has been a long time since I did it :D

I wouldn't worry about it at all, when I went through my basic training, only a few people were discharged on medical grounds and that was well into the training, most people left of their own accord (DAOR) after finding it too difficult. Some were UFAS'ed (Unfit for Army service) which is normally given because of a severely bad attitude problem. When I passed out there were 20 of the original 40 that I had started with. My best advice is to not fail yourself, if the staff need to fail you then they will, but never give up and put 110% in all the time. It's hard to cope with when people are giving up around you so just ignore the negative guys and get through it! Don't forget that you'll come out of the other side a fully trained soldier! :D

Training is hard, but you can do it so don't be nervous :P

Good luck bud
