Mystery Soldier

Post by andyparker »

I am trying to identify the gentleman in the attached photograph which was in the possesion of my late grandmother. My mother has no idea who he is or any others in the photograph. Can anyone tell me which regiment he was in by the unifrom? Any clues would be useful. On the back is marked Tom 9-6-17.

Well it looks it is from WW1 and the chap has wound patch on his arm, and to find any one that knows him nearly a hundred years on as that generation has gone, and so has the next one as well and there are very few of WW2 that are left. So I would like to hear if you have any l luck in tracing him.

I know it's a bit of a long shot. I was hoping to get any scraps of information perhaps his regiment from the uniform or cap badge. I didn't know about the wounded patch so at least that helps. Any small bit of information would help me. Just thought I'd put it out there and see.
