RAC Queens royal lancers questions

Hi all, I want to join the Queens Royal Lancers in the RAC, but I would like to know how often they go on operations(afghan or training) and how big it is, as there isn't very much info about them on the army site. Also is it possible to change regiments once in the army? As I am still considering Paras as a option too but I like both of them a lot. One last question is how long(generally) does it take to be promoted from driver?
