Army Pilot or RAF Pilot
Hi Im torn between the two. I like the Army because it offers infantry training etc. But the RAF offers the chance to fly fast jets. The Army has 8 year commissions but the RAF has 12 years. IOT is 32 weeks, RMAS is 44. What are your opinions? Whats better training, lifestyle, living standards etc. is it better to fly helicopters or jets. Im going to post this here then in the RAF section. I like the idea of not just being a pilot but also infantry trained possibly commando and maybe even SAS someday. Also, what are the chances of an AAC Officer Pilot making it into the SAS?

You need to do some serious thinking, what do you want to do?
RAF, easier lifestyle more options be it RW or FW.
Army, harder lifestyle only serious option is RW.
Do you want to be SF or Pilot? Chances of both slim but possible.
All Army officers are Infantry trained to varying levels, but if you are selected for the AAC they will not be keen to invest time and money to see you go for SF.

Re: Army Pilot or RAF Pilot
Well the RAF have a surplus of pilots at the moment with all the cut backs, so your best bet would be the Army and if you got a Commission then life would be fairly good

It had better be a good one.Have you spoken to Your local AFCO?
And don't get wet about SF.There are more cut-backs yet to come.
With the British now effectively out of Iraq and the MoD all set to get out of an embarrassing situation in Afghanistan they can afford to take the best.
Until the shit hits the fan again.
But then you can always call us(again)
