hi i need some advice my son is 16 and has always wanted to join the army his ex girlfriend who has deep rooted problems attacked him with a razor blade slashing his arn from wrist up he did attend hosptial and police did go to hosptial he got arrested for assault as he hit her with his right fist to get her off him rightly or wrongly he did it she wont make a statement as she knew he would have to tell them why he had done it so he never got charged the trouble is he went up for selection and got failed because the doctor said he did it himself my son is not and has never self harmed i have the records from the hospitial which state he was assaulted and they were defense wounds i also have a written letter from her taken full reasonablty for it she admits it was her i also have a letter from his schools head master which his school is a small school not amain stream school as he did have behaviour problems which are on his first medical form all staff and pupils know each other well the pupils call staff by first names his beahiour is now better and has got better over the last few years anyway the letter from his school states he is not a self harmer and never has been as they would have realised they are that closed knit also a letter from gp stating there has never been any self harm evidence we are appealing and is woundering how long it takes and if he could re apply for army he is devasted and had worked well since january to get this far

Just read your post, as said earlier a wee bit difficult.
That said, if you have written evidence from the attending Dr and from his G/F stating she attacked him with a razor then you should have a chance to take it further, suggest you get back onto the AFCO. Trouble is that it could get into a "he said, she said" scenario with one Dr for and one against, your son should have taken it further at the time.
