Pension Question.

Post by Brummyb »

Now then.......My dad was a Cpl in the Signals when he left the Army in abour 1992. My father in law left the RA in 1995 as a WO2. My dad is now on his full pension but was on about £500 a month. Father in law (FIL) has never taken home more than £300. Both commuted the max poss. I have suggested to FIL that he make some call's to see if his pension is correct. A close friend of his joined and left at the same time as a L/Bombadier and is getting the same money!!!!!!! Does anybody of similar rank at time of release have any ideas or figures which might help.

Thanks.

Hello mate, not sure if it applies (depends on his earnings) but your father in law may have an arrangement where his Mil pension is taxed at the higher rate of tax.

Failing that he should get onto the pensions provider (Xafinity), and have his details checked, again the British Legion are a good port of call.
