Depression/anxiety/self harm and alcohol abuse
I suffered from Depression, anxiety, self harm and i abused alcohol 4 years ago when i was 21 but im well now and i called the army office up and spoke to an army guy who said something like ' if you dont declare it we wont know about it' and then he said something like ' what happens is our doctors contact your doctors and then they decide after chatting with you' my question is should i just not declare it and if i do declare it will i automatically be disqualified from joining? i really am 100% better now and have been for some time!

Did you get any medical help for this????
If you did it will be on file with your Dr.
Your Recruiter is an ass, firstly its a matter of personal integrity, Honesty throughout your application. How would you feel if during your training/career it comes back and you have to hide the fact it has happened before???
If the Army find out at a later stage then prepare to medically discharged.

To be quite honest is the Army the job for you. If you have been treated by your doctor then it is a matter of record, so if you don't tell Army when you apply then they will more than likely throw you for making a false declaration. If you tell tell them of your problem can you give a few good reasons why they should take you on.
