knee operations advice please

Post by brummygaz »

does anyone know of people passing the army medical. I have had acl knee surgery over a year ago know no problems. I have even been to see two experts and they say it's fine. My job at the min is a thai boxing instructor and pro fighter so i use my legs a lot more than most. I'm in the process of joining at the min, and i'm really worried about the answer been a no. please can you advise me.

If they ask if you have had a medical problem then tell them, they will look at it and make sure it is okay. If they find you have held back information then they will not be best pleased and may not accept you.

Hi, i had torn PCL, but they didnt end up operating! I had to see an army specialist, and he said it was fine. Did you have a re-construction? Also what regiment are you going for?

chances are (depending on its severity of course), you may get a deferral for 1 or 2 years from the date the operation took place.

so, if its + a year ago etc youd be fine

speak to a recruiter, ask for his thoughts, plus medical requirements and the specifications on knee injury's (it's all available)

i have been to birmingham city football physio he said it's in great shape plus i have seen a knee expert. Both have given letters for me to pass on. i'm looking at joining the riffles. i'm just really worried it will be a no hoping that some one can offer a bit of light at the end of the tunnel as they say.

Go to your AFCO, fill in an application, they will give you some med forms to fill out with your doctor (which will cover your knee history).

Once completed, you will hand back to the AFCO (including the physio reports), they will send to the med centre who will pass, defer or fail you.

Then you will know :)
