Army Medical Question

Post by Wicksieboiirafreg »

Hi

During the army recruitment process i was rejected on medical terms due to having OCD when i was younger.I have been clear of it for over four years now. The army doctors sent me a letter saying i couldnt join because of my pst with OCD, but they never told me anything like "you can come back in six months" or anything like that. I went to see my doctor today and asked her if i could get a certificate to say i have been clear for a long time, she said she could, but she didnt think the army would' budge or their decision.

But the thing is i have been with the T.A for three years now and my condition has never come up nor has it affected me during training or any normal day to day life.

So what i would like to know should i send the certificate and a covering letter to the medical team at pirbright and try and appeal against the decision, will it work?

I know some people might say "well dont the T.A know about your condition?". Well the answer is no because they never asked for my medical records!.

If anyone could help me with this i would really really aptreciate it.

Thankyou :D

is it cured or are you on medication to control it?
Having OCD IS A BAR TO ENTRY! however if your saying you no longer have it , then you can try and join the Regulars.

However be aware that if you get turned away from the Regs due to this then you will be asked to leave the TA.
I have a personal opinion on this, but I will leave it out for now!!!

How long have you been off your medication?

Are you ever fully cured from OCD....or does it just lay dormant for a while. What affect would the stress of combat have one on OCD.

No i have had no medical treatment for my OCD for 4 years no Medication, or further visits to the doctors for any illness.

As for combat stress i have done some seriously hard training with the T.A and had a tough time on some of my training weekends but it has never surfaced. If anything i felt even better if that makes sense?

I think i was just a naughty teenager :D

So what would you suggest?
