Hi
This is my first post. I am researching for a fictional book which includes a character who is a member of the RM in the mid 1980's. So my questions are as follows:-
If a RM was AWOL and caught, where would he have been taken to be questioned by his superiors?
Would he be questioned by the Miltary Police or by other RM's?
What is the length of time it would take to be promoted from Major to Lt. Col?
Thanks to anyone who takes the time to help me out with this stuff.

ha ha if this guy is a major an hes goin awol then no one will interview him officers crack there own
nah depends on how long for an under what circumstances ect ect an what his superiors decide to do.
e.g your a marine an your a day late because your car breaks down. your still awol but your troop stripey (sgt) might just give you crap details and that will be the end of it.
or your a mne an you just decide f##k it not turning up its more serious and punishment will be more servere an passed higher up. just depends really
