Liaison officers

Well, wikipedia translated it as "Liaison officer". You know these officers communication with other forces and so on. How do you become that in the British Army?

Join the army as an officer would be the first step

Well, that's clear. But do you tell them directly "Hey, I wanna do it" and apply for it or is it some special job they ask you to do it?
Some further information would be awesome..

Of course let them know just what your ambition's are, still yo never know once you are in the forces you might find some other path you wish to follow
