How long does it take?
Phoned my AFCO on Monday and they said my medical papers have been with the medical staff at Glencourse since 16th April (2 weeks ago), and that they would phone me as soon as they get an answer.
Anybody have any idea how long it usually takes to get a decision from your written medical?

I applied before Chritsmas last year, nothing happened through Christmas for obvious reasons and then a good few weeks after that. First the medical department sent back forms because i ticked 'yes' to contact lenses/glasses, so then had to get an opticians report and sent all that off which was another couple of weeks. Then after that they sent a letter saying i was rejected for a hamstring injury suffered a year and half previous, so then had to prove my fitness with an exercise diary and a letter from my Royal Mail manager, again another few weeks.
I didn't have my first interview until late Feb, passed that but needed a quick op which has delayed my application. Was due for selection around the end of March but am aiming for a mid/late June shot, need a solid month of fitness training before i give it a go.

Just getting frustrated at waiting. From the point of my first AFCO visit i had done my application, BARB, basic skills and written medical forms checked all within 1 week. Ever since i have just been waiting for a letter or phone call, suppose just need to be patient.

the medical forms should be done any minute but you shuld probably go to your nearest AFCO and ask or speak to your recruiter.
Mine were done in a week. After your medical forms are returned you will have a interview about your chosen job and then you might be sent to a pre-ADSC which is 2 and a half hours where you complete the fitness tests to see if you are fit enough to go down to ADSC.
good luck and if you have any more question, just ask.

Re: How long does it take?
Went to AFCO today. My recruiter wasn't there so another recruiter checked for me and my medical papers were cleared on 25th April, I'm going back in tomorrow to see my recruiter so he can set up my interview and ADSC. Thank god soemthings finally happened.Liam_D wrote:Hi,adambatley wrote:Phoned my AFCO on Monday and they said my medical papers have been with the medical staff at Glencourse since 16th April (2 weeks ago), and that they would phone me as soon as they get an answer.
