Adeventurous Training

Post by Halotope »

Currently in Secondry School, Year 10.

Looking at the training, it seems to be fine but when I look at the Adventurous training it looks a bit daunting. I was wondering whether you can choose what you do, as I do not like the sound of jumping out of a plane from 6000ft? If you dont get a choice, has anyone had the same problem of being scared of this prospect??

Thanks...

AT take all forms, and usually there is a fair degree of choice. Doing civvy parachuting isn't particularly common (though not rare). But to be honest, that really should be the least of your worries!

AT is not meant to be easy hence the adventure, it is designed to take you out of your comfort zone and see how you react, sort of like sticking you in battle and having rounds flying all over you just to see what you do but its a lot safer and a far better experience.

It is actually something I enjoy doing and others usually agree afterwards. Different people react different ways ranging from pure refusal to having to be fully coaxed out. Dont worry if you are scared though as A its what its meant to do and B so many others are scared when doing there first sort of AT.

I have problem with people asking for this advice, can't they make up there own mind of what to do, or is it case if it goes wrong and they get hurt, they will blame some one for telling thenm to it.

The chances of you doing any compulsory adventure training that isn't mountain biking are pretty slim. The sharp end of the army is far too busy for that now.

Thanks for the replies.... So what is the most uncomfortable/scariest thing you have done during the training stages, not on deployment??

From the way you're talking mate I'm not convinced the forces are for you. I may be wrong obviously, but this concern about being uncomfortable/scared isn't really compatible with the services.

Point taken , but to be honest I am just looking for the advice at this stage and if I find out what kind of things you have to do, I can start to do them now, so in 15 years time I will be perfectly fine...
