A Day in the Life

Post by Taffd »

Hi All,

I'm an ex-Matelot, my extended family contains numerous serving and ex Royal Greenjackets and Rifles and I have two sons intent on joining the Royal Marines, one of which already has a date for RT.

So you can see how I might have an interest in things military.

Now there are several websites that give a very brief description of carreers available to potential recruits but there is a paucity of information as to what people in the services actually do, day to day.

And that is really what people want to know about. Not just the intensity of battle but also the mundane of barracks life and the runs ashore.

After all, a sniper can't spend a whole career just sniping.

Anyway, to cut a long story short, I'm after anybody who'd like to contribute an article or three to 'A day in the life'. It's not set up for direct contributions, so if anybody would like to help by writing something, please PM me.

And can I add, that I'm interested in the life of 'clerks', 'chefs', etc, as well as specialisations that might be considered 'more exciting'. And I'd like to hear from all our armed services.

Thanks for your time
