Employers of Reservists and Frequency of tours

Post by COMBAT WARRIOR »

Just after abit of info lads.

I am currently going through my application for A coy 6th Rifles in Gloucester. Just wondering if someone can shed abit of light on a couple of questions.

1. I am currently unemployed due to this countries crap situation and I am currently searching for a job but am finding it very difficult in regards to finding employers who REALLY support reservists.
ANY NEWS OR INFO APPRECIATED!!!!!!!!!

2. Does anyone know roughly how frequent the tours are coming round at the mo. I have joined to serve my country and get really wound up when people come on here just thinking you can get away with running around a field playing rambo for the weekend. Also how long is the tour length including pre training and post leave?

Again any info much appreciated

How does that work then hands on?

I thought the whole point of TA was people could only join on a part time basis apart from a few full timers at the local units

It will be easier If you wait until you have finished your training and speak to your psi then me going Into that on here now, but what It comes down to Is there Is a big list of FTRS vacancies and tour opportunities If you fit the bill then you put In for It.

I don't know about other units but almost every time we parade we are read out a list of what are regular counter parts are after and asked to volunteer, and of course If there are not any takers then the pressure can be laid on.
But we do work very close with are regular equivalent

Mate u really need to slow down a bit uve got a long way to go before u can go on tour the whole of phase one plus CIC then at least another 6 months on top of that as u no already i'm a full screw (section commander) at A cmpy Gloucester have u done the RSD yet at exeter if so u can start training with the Rifle plt, don't worry though as we go on tour all the time i think we have at least 25 + lads who r on tour on Herrick now with 3 commando 1 rifles or who about to deploy with 2 rifles so there's plenty of opportunity to go just have some patience
